Gay Marriage

This was such a fun thread.....then the left figured out they were attacking one their own.

Priceless.

This twit does not give up.  Part of me wishes her lawyers would get sanctioned for all the frivolous lawsuits but I know that would do more harm to the legal system than good.  I guess the upside is if they are wasting all their time on this case they are less likely to do damage elsewhere.

I hope Bunning puts her arrogant delusional butt back in jail.

Wow.  What a moron.

The day the Supreme Court effectively legalized gay marriage in June, Beshear sent a letter to the state's 120 county clerks directing them to issue licenses. Davis on Thursday complained that in doing so he "commandeered" county clerk's offices and "usurped control of Kentucky marriage law."

Civics lessons are way overdue.  One would have thought that her lawyers would know that Federal law supersedes state law.  Supreme court ruled that marriage equality is the law of the land.  That means any laws to the contrary are null and void.

Put her in jail, call it done.

It was common knowledge before. She is about as Dem as you are. Know idea why she is a registered Dem but I would guess it has something to do with getting elected to the office. Her beliefs certain do not fall with in main stream dems.

Wow. Who didn't see that coming? I want to k ow when the dems ever represented what she beki3ved. Everyone she or her lawyers open their mouth the stupid just flows out.

That is an interesting statement if I ever heard one.

"The institution of marriage as between a man and a woman, uniquely involving the procreation of children within a family, is as old as the book of Genesis," the opinion says.

These Tennessee Lawmakers Want to ‘Void’ Supreme Court Decision
“Natural marriage between one (1) man and one (1) woman as recognized by the people of Tennessee remains the law in Tennessee, regardless of any court decision to the contrary.”

So reads a bill introduced by Tennessee lawmakers Rep. Mark Pody and  Sen. Mae Beavers. The measure states that any court decision purporting to redefine marriage to include a union between two men or two women is “unauthoritative, void, and of no effect.”

Utterly amazing. The TN legislate has proposed a bill that would restablish a ban on same sex marriage. The proposed bill w Ok uld nullify the SCOTUS ruling.

How does someone (s) get elected to state office and not have a freaking clue how the US legal system works? I doubt the bill has a chance of passing (I hope there are enough GOP members with the understanding of the COTUS to vote it down).

Worse, they probably do know that it won't pass and probably won't even be voted on.

It will let them campaign on "introduced legislation to restore marriage to.." And worst of all people will support them because of this waste of time "campaign legislation".

It's not about governing, it's about getting re-electioned and "making a point".

Their whole stayement is rife with lies and inaccuracies

She wasn't arrested

She was held in contempt

Judges can do that

"Civil contempt of court most often happens when someone fails to adhere to an order from the court, with resulting injury to a private party's rights. For example, failure to pay court ordered child support can lead to punishment for civil contempt. Typically, the aggrieved party, such as a parent who has not received court ordered child support payments, may file an action for civil contempt.

Punishment for Civil Contempt of Court vs. Criminal Contempt of Court

Unlike criminal contempt sentences, which aim to punish the act of contempt, civil contempt sanctions aim to either: (1) restore the rights of the party who was wronged by the failure to satisfy the court's order; or (2) simply move an underlying proceeding along. Civil contempt sanctions typically end when the party in contempt complies with the court order, or when the underlying case is resolved.

Like those charged with criminal contempt, the court may order incarceration of people held in civil contempt. However, unlike individuals charged with criminal contempt, people held in civil contempt are generally not given the same constitutional rights that are guaranteed to criminal contempt defendants.

Those held in civil contempt generally must be given notice of the contempt sanctions and an opportunity to be heard, but usually are not guaranteed a jury trial. Also, their contempt does not need to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, while criminal contempt charges must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Finally, criminal contempt involves a specified sentence (jail and/or fine), while civil contempt sanctions can be more indefinite, lasting until either the underlying case is resolved or the party in contempt complies with the court order.

So, let’s get this straight. Kim Davis, an ordinary Kentucky county clerk, denies a marriage license to a same-sex couple. She’s held without bail in spite of not being a danger to anyone.
A Saudi prince, with massive wealth, is accused of being a serial rapist. He’s let go on a mere $300,000 bail, in spite of the fact that he’s a massive flight risk and a serious danger to the community.

The two cases have absolutely nothing to do with one another, on any level, and you know it but throw it out there anyway.

That's called a meaningless emotinal appeal, or fear grenade.

Works on the unthinking.

You knew that too.

Or, you are one of them, and swallowed it whole without thinking when one of the pied pipers tossed it out there.
