George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin

If the roles were reversed and Zimmerman was the Skittle eating, pot smoking perfect little boy and Trayvon the armed guard who was assaulted, the law allows him to stand his ground. I see nothing in the law which excludes blacks.

Do you think Trayvon would have been prosecuted under similar circumstances?
Statistically blacks do not fair as well under self defense/SYG defense cases.

Actually, it has been reported that blacks have benefited with SYG.

The Ohio-based [/background]
[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]Buckeye Firearms Association[/background][background=rgb(255, 255, 255)] has established the “Zimmerman Second Amendment Fund” for the purchase of a new handgun for George Zimmerman.
The Justice Department has put a “hold” on evidence for the Zimmerman trial. That decision means Zimmerman is unable to have his gun returned to him despite the fact he was found not guilty.
“This is about more than mere principle. Zimmerman and his family now face daily threats on their lives,” the association wrote in an email soliciting funds, “more than ever, he has a right to defend himself against those who would seek to do him harm.”

Yes.

Trayvon would never have been called an "armed guard" (that is the first time I have heard Zimmerman called that).

And he would have most likely ended up with a public defender who would have encouraged him to plea bargain and go to prison. There would have been minimal media coverage and Sharpton and gang would be nowhere around.

Media coverage, that's right. If there is a camera and mic, then good ole AL and his sidekick JJ will be there to promote their agenda of self-promotion.

No spotlight, no Al-JJ led Jihad.

The big difference from the Florida law is that in Pennsylvania an attacker must be showing a deadly weapon before a threatened citizen can open fire.
One of the sponsors of the bill, Rep. Scott Perry, R-York, explained in 2011 that the law was meant to "tip the scales of justice back in favor of the law-abiding citizen."
Rep. Jake Wheatley, D-Hill District, another sponsor of the bill, said last week that the residents of the poor neighborhoods he represents need to be able to defend themselves in the streets because no one else will.
"I would much prefer that we live in a perfect world where the police protect everyone," he said. "The people in my communities are under siege. Law enforcement and the judicial system haven't been able to protect them."

Get out of jail free card for AG Holder?

We realize that the alleged conduct of private citizens like George Zimmerman is beyond the scope of the End Racial Profiling Act and the Department of Justice Guidance Regarding the
Use of Race by Federal Law Enforcement Agencies.
.

Maybe Police should not carry?

Although the George Zimmerman case
did not involve a law enforcement officer, many other shootings of unarmed Black men around the country have.

In 1999, 22 year old Guinea immigrant Amadou Ahmed Diallo was fatally shot 41 times by white New York police officers.Sean Bell was a 23yearold African American who was shot 50 times and killed by New York City police when leaving his bachelor party in 2003.
In 2005 New Orleans police officers shot six unarmed civilians, two of
whom died, near the Danziger Bridge in the days after Hurricane Katrina.More recently,22yearold Oscar Grant, an African American, was shot in the back and killed by Oakland transit police
on New Year’s morning in 2009 after getting off the BART train.
These cases are painful illustrations ofthe need for the Department
to prioritize issuing strengthened guidance to law enforcement on
racial profiling and excessive force.

They asked the public for HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for George Zimmerman's defense ... but now that the case is over, GZ's lawyers are living the high life-- eating at one of NYC's most expensive restaurants.

TMZ cameras rolled as Mark O'Mara, Don West and the rest of the team left the famous Nello restaurant in NYC earlier today ... where the lobster bisque will run you a cool $43.

Sources tell TMZ the gang was seen drinking champagne inside the restaurant ... and when it comes to the bubbly at Nello -- even the cheap stuff is expensive.

OK for lawyers to celebrate
  • Yes
  • No
In fact, Nello is where ultra-rich stars like Jay-Z and Alex Rodriguez are often seen chowing down.

On the way out, the lawyers told us they still believe the jury in the Trayvon Martin case made the right decision -- "[Zimmerman] was not guilty from day one."

They also said the food at Nello's was excellent.

"George Zimmerman Emerged From Hiding for Truck Crash Rescue!"

"Zimmerman was one of two men who came to the aid of Dana and Mark Gerstle and their two children, who were trapped inside a blue Ford Explorer SUV that had rolled over after traveling off the highway in Sanford, Fla. at approximately 5:45 p.m. Thursday, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
