Go ahead work till u r 65

Looks like airline employees will expire at a very young age. No retirement plans, low salaries mean that by reading the above survey.....anyone who works for an airline is signing their own death sentence! What a depressing website! Thanks for the holiday cheer!

Much of the study in that article has since been found to be not true, especially the graph of retirment age versus longevity. If you are working at a very high stress job than some points are true but if you are working where you really enjoy your work, enjoy your fellow workers, and not under high stress, the opposite may be true. Some people decline rapidly after retirement because they no longer have the stimulation of work or social interaction. Call it poor planning or whatever, but it's true. I really enjoy flying airplanes, my schedule is ok, I enjoy my fellow workers, I have fun at work, so I don't particularly want to retire till I have to. I know that isn't the case with everyone, so just go ahead and retire at 55 or whatever you want. No one is telling or ordering you to work to 65.

What i see as the problem with age 65 is the amount of radiation you will be subjected to over a 30plus year career.
We have very little info on how unhealthy flying can be. Now if this study and others like it are somewhat true then the airlines love the age 65. Get more work out of you and you don't live long enough for them to pay retirement.
For me...i would rather retire at 55 with a little money then have to work till 65 and have a little more.
Still better to be poor and alive, than rich and dead.
