heard more rumors about HDQ moving to CLT after the lease in CCY is up. anyone know anything?

They should move it to South America like the rest of the operaration. They could have HDQ, Res, and Hvy. Mtc all under one roof. I'm sure Bruce and the gang wouldn't object to relocating just like all of the others must do...

"Act together" ???????????

Now THAT'S a funny one. It will never happen. They do whatever it takes to keep their pockets full of cash and keep you and me pi$$ed off.

Hmmm,

Moving to CLT where the cost of square footage is cheaper? What a novel idea. Isn't cost savings the whole reason for all the painfull changes afterall?

Why Not move to CLT for cheaper leases? We sure won't need , or won't be entitled to draw any further protection from Judge Mitchell and his bench in Alexandria Va. , now will we?

Seriously....all these ties to the seats of power in DC have played out for U...and the next trip to a BK Courtroom will be for liquidation purposes, Period !! So why does it matter where your HQ's is located anymore , if we can actually save some real money by moving it to CLT ?

Hell...put these A-Holes where the works at for a change...and where they have good connecting flights to PHL , PIT , BOS , DCA and LGA too. Maybe if they got out in the field more and observed...they just might see what the hell is wrong here?

I think all the CCY Honcho's need to get out more...and without the escort of Mid level Management escorting them to what they want them to see for a change. Getting out there and seeing the problems should help in solving them. It's obvious the lower executive and higher management types have a problem with "truth to power"...and that's a major weakness that needs to be exposed for what it is too !!

The company has not even come close to cutting costs down on there side yet, I like the idea of moving CCY to cental america!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the mayor of CLT and his wife on my flight last year sometime going down to the Carribbean. At that time, I asked him what CLT was doing to woo US to move headquarters down there. He told me they were doing everything they could and they were making a presentation to management the week after he came back from vacation.

Well, that was prior to our second BK, and almost a year ago. This is the first time I have heard rumors, so........

The CLT municipal authorities and Bank of America have been offering numerous inducements for US to relocate its HDQ to CLT.

Jerry Glass has stated that relocating HDQ is not on the list of priorities right now, given the term of the lease in CCY (which management did renegotiate with Vornado during BK1) and the cost of moving. Thing is, most of the CCY employees are all for moving to CLT.

However, any cost savings by moving HDQ to CLT won't be optimal if the INT offices in Madison Park, Hanes Blvd., and Liberty St. don't move to CLT either (as well as the remaining PIT offices of MAE & OCC). For example, there are inefficiencies even in HDQ because even the Mark Center in DCA (where Payroll and Accounts Payable are located) is about 5 miles south of CCY. US loses so much money due to separate servers, additional Dialnet exchanges, COMAT, travel, parking reimbursement, etc. Even like departments which need to interface often are not co-located, and there is so much time and effort wasted commuting to meetings or trying to set up a conference call to discuss something that could be solved in 5 minutes by dropping by someone's cube. Why can't we all be in one place? Although for contigency planning purposes it might be justified to have an office or two "off-site," with the advent of remote communications/telecommuting this should no longer be an issue.

At US the employees are divided into their little silos... not just old divisions such as sales/marketing vs. ops, Piedmont vs. Allegheny, but the employees are literally physically divided. It really might help things if everyone was in the same place. And CLT is that ideal place.

I'd make a nice excuse and opportunity to loot the company one last time before the final shutdown. Of course, all the execs would have the leave the land of Trophy Houses (N. Virginia).

Hell, there are some nice trophy houses to be had in Charlotte. It is not exactly a hick town with nothing to do. They just snaged new culinary school (which means the restaurant scene should get more inventive) and the sports and the arts in CLT are exceptional... A metro is planned and your just s few hours from the mountains and theres a nice lake for recreation.... Charlottes a very nice city to live in.... plus the cost of living is a lot less, those bloated salaries should go even further.

True...We heard the CEO of Bank of America offered Seth 20 floors of the new bank building downtown rent free. Of course this was back in 1995, of course they declined.
