He said he was told displaying the sticker on the outside of the locker is a violation of department policy. Personal items can be posted inside the lockers.

The firefighters' union said 11 other firefighters were warned they should remove personal items from the outside of lockers or face similar suspensions, all without pay.

Its a sticker of our flag...whats the problem?!
If someone was offended by some cartoon that was posted in the firehouse earlier, then ban putting cartoons and such on the lockers but not a sticker of the US flag!

Whats so difficult about that?

Because that is not what they did. Rather than having arguments about what kind of flag sticker is allowed or what constitutes a flag sticker they just said 'no stickers'. They did this because had they said you can only put up a US flag sticker someone would have sued because they were not permitted to put up a sticker of they native country or a country of their ancestors. The PA fire department decided to just nip it in the bud and said no stickers what so ever. te fact that the fire fighter cannot follow instructions or violated the rule knowingly to get attention is not my problem. If the fire dept wants to change their policy then do it. I suspect that their lawyers will advise against it.

Speaking of "Stickers" and "People who own their own company", I heard a story about a guy who owned a small comany with about 30 employees. He called a meeting together one day and told the employees, "Because of increased taxes and pressures , healthcare, etc. , that the Obama administration was leveling on small businesses, he was going to have to lay off 8 people. "
He then promptely went out to the parking lot and picked the first 8 cars that had Obama stickers on them...................guess you can figure out who got laid off !
