HHD and adding LODO--Flight Attendant Work Issues Discussion--

The LODO's are supposed to be using an HHD right now if they are indeed working the beverage carts like the rest of us do....nothing new here! Not to diminish the duties of a LODO, but I have never seen them more busy than the rest of the F/A's....other than boarding and reading announcements from a book and occassionally interacting with a non english speaking passenger....besides don't they get paid a premium above the rest of the F/A's?? The LODO's are not the only F/A's passing out forms, not the only F/A doing Duty Free, and if you would have listen to them explain the "new" snack sales on T/A....it is not an actual service....you are just making an announcement to let the passengers know they are available for purchase and the passenger will come back to the galley and purchase them....really where is the added work here if we are not on break and are in the aft galley? :huh:

How did you get that out of what I said??? :huh: (go back a re-read the statement) <_< I said LODO's are supposed to be working the beverage cart position. Now, I personally know quite a few outstanding LODO's, but even if you are indeed a LODO like I'm guessing from this .....you have got to admit there are quite a few LODO's out there that should not be in that program. On a recent flight, one LODO was soo terrible with announcements and pronounciation.....everytime they got on the PA the passengers would laugh....and one passenger even came up to us and said if you need somebody to translate they'd be more than happy to do it! 😱

Look, I'm not defending the company here, but from what they are telling us in the briefings the only change is that the HHD's in the aisle on the widebody should be signed on by the "actual" user. That's all I got out of it.....if I missed something than maybe I'm wrong and I apologize! Oh and BTW, I have flown T/A pretty much regularly since the division days....so I've seen it all on these T/A flights. I may not know this......do LODO's make the same as the rest of the F/A's flying T/A or do they get a premium on top of the 3 extra dollars everybody else gets??
My apologies if I offended you and your duties as a LODO. And right now our Union cannot pick their own nose without going into arbitration....c'mon how many years now have we been haggling out this transition agreement....almost 5 years!!! And after yesterday's negotiation rumor control e-line.....they've still got a long way to go!
 
The HHD's out in the aisle on t/a flights is a joke. People want a beverage WITH their meal.....not after they are almost finished. I have tried the HHD's out in the aisle and it IS a disaster. That isn't Debby Downer being negative but simply stating a FACT. You go through the crap that beachboy described when you use the HHD in the aisle. The damn HHD's don't work properly no matter how savy you think you are with electronics. The whole HHD bologne is a joke. It's been jacked up since day 1 and it remains that way today. They tweak the HHD here and tweak the HHD there. It's like the blind leading the blind. I'm all for using the HHD's in the aisle on domestic but on t/a I say, "NO WAAAAY". As for the LODO's new responsiblity it's always easy for someone who doesn't do a position to comment. I think there are FAR more bad apple flight attendants than there are "bad apple" LODO's. I wouldn't want their job on some flights regardless of the premium they are paid. This whole announcement of a change to the HHD process on t/a is yet another jackass move without any input from the actual employees doing the job. I'm about ready to take those damn HHD's and throw them out the 2L or 4L door. I WILL NOT sit there and try to make magic like David Copperfield with them. When I go to input the info and it gives me grief.......back into the green box it goes and the money goes in an envelope. PERIOD. Call me in on it. Won't be my first time and surely won't be the last. 🙄

OK....have to agree with you there....this is a very "user unfriendly" model.....of course of the 2 HHD models that we were to pick from...the company chose the worst one because it had the ability to be manipulated for inflight sales. The other was a more user friendly model that seemed more modern and had a bigger easier to use screen....go figure! Bottom line is ....a sale is a sale as long as it is entered into the HHD whether you do it in the aisle or in the galley at the end of your service....that is all the company should want from us!

You either finish it before we push back or it gets taken... Call it what you like.

With all due respect please go play on the CO board and watch the tumbleweed blow around if your going to post the above. You have no idea what your talking about. These HHD's are a disaster because they don't transmit, LCC got the cheapest software for them and yes some of our flight attendant just flat out refuse to use them. The screens are so complicated it's beyond a mess.
It's not practical on an International flight while serving meals and drinks to do this HHD out in the isle. Every other row wants wine or beer or a cocktail. You have to stop wait for them to dig out $$$ or a card, input what they purchased on the screen do a currency conversion if its Euro or whatever. Meanwhile the meal cart is chucking along. The other side of the isle didn't sell as much as you and they are almost done. I have tried it and it's a zoo. You go to a restaurant and your meal arrives with your drink period.
Fine on domestic flight but on international forget it. And since you think you know all about us do you understand we have 1 (ONE) LODO on an A330 with 270+ people? The LODO has to board, inventory duty free, translate the forms, yell across the isle because they are stuck on a/c L and earns every penny they make on those flights. There should be 2 and even Alder said that but we are still stuck one. If you are going to heap more responsibility on the LODO move that position to meals and let someone else simply SWIPE the ID on the HHD. Really everyone should have their own wine, beer and liq to count. Better yet screw the entire system and do it right. GO CASHLESS! Buy coupons on the kiosks or use your cards.
My parting gift to you would be come here and work 3 months. I dare say you would keep your Gladis Cravits comments to yourself.


With no respect due, if you are that unhappy with the way your company operates, QUIT. If you can't handle your job, QUIT. If it makes you a wittle sad that you can't rush through a service on a T/A flt, QUIT.

It might be a good idea for your co-workers to look back or look across the aisle and STOP serving if they are getting to far ahead. Then again that might be like asking someone for a kidney, it seems all people want to do is rush out of the aisles. Or as I stated on my other post, write down all the orders and how they were paid and input if afterwards.

NWA had ZERO speakers.. Good, golley, however did they do it?

My parting gift to YOU, if you are that disgruntle with the way your company operates, after almost having it's doors shut multiple times in the last decade, QUIT.... I am sure US Airways can find a bunch more Flight Attendant that will B*tch a wholeeeee lot less! 😀

As for what I think of US Airways employees is the same as before, good people, few bad apples, such as yourself. My responce to your post was from your admittence of being lazy, and your comment on how your co-workers are not capable to look and wait when you are having trouble with the HHD machine.... I guess you must operate the rocket scientist only version.

I believe that we all do more than enough as far as trying! To tag it to the LODO'S it simply ridiculous . The company has managed to pit everyone against one another. Talk to your Damn Union we are not going to take there #### anymore. The ball goes in the companys court OH YEAH!!!!!!! They are so clever Crazy glue yourselves to being part of a change more pay ,unity for all because no one here will go unscathed.

Honey, I have been here 42 years and work circles around most people. i will tell you the HHD program is a farce. come over here for your third airline and think you know service because i will ride you like a Pogo Stick down that isle.

ok I almost fell on the floor laughing you are too much. for people who know you they know what a hard worker you are and I have no doubt that you could pogo that stick with "that" person.
Again I find that I am constantly correcting on this post - why cant people understand that we are asking that any rules - policy changes be through the correct avenues? and why do people always say well "quit" why can't one complain and b**** and or try to make changes?
I complain when my son does not make his bed - so should I quit him?
I don't know how you did it - you have the patience of a saint - if we had you - these boards would not even have any traffic - at least - usairways dont know about the other airlines
 
You call your walker a pogo stick? LOL! As for joining US Airways, UM, Thanks, BUT NO Thanks! It saddens me that a person of advanced "Seniority" talks like a 21 year old new hire. Yet it shouldn't, since most people who have devoted life to an airline usually speaks with your, HONEY! I've been here for 95 years, don't make me show you how it's really done attitude.

What also amazes me is how someone with almost 5 decades in a company can't see how they are a top reason companies are stagnent.

As far as disprecting anyone, none thus far has come from my end. What amazes me is you're all so hostile and towards each other as a work group. None of you should be calling anyone disrespectful but yourselves, you all seem to be your own worst enemies. <_<
