Horton may stay as CEO of "New" American...

Yep, they can't pay him off with the bankruptcy judge looking over their shoulder. Once they exit bankruptcy though, hello payday, buy off, or whatever you want to call it. Ahhhhh, the corporate structure. "I'll believe corporations are people, when Texas executes one."

Bean

That is the best statement on corporate America I've seen yet!

New American Airlines CEO?

AMR CEO Tom Horton is having discussions with officials from American Airlines and US Airways over what his role would be at a combined airline. Whatever position is carved out for him, it's believed that it will be below US Airways top exec Doug Parker who is most likely to be pegged as the new CEO of the world's largest airline by traffic if the merger is finalized.

Well I guess they cant be too dumb, they are making millions.

Dave Seigal made millions and he was dumb as far as running an airline. I would think Horton would be the better of the two. This would more of an ego trip for Doug Parker.

bring in gordon bethune but i doubt he want out of retirement! 🙂

Hey look, it's the backs of labor 🙄
Is it Horton or Parker?

So basically, this is a 'meet your new boss, same as your old boss' thingy?

I have to ask...
Since when is any management in favor of labor???

It sounds to me like Horton will act as Non Acting Chairman of the merged entity . Similar to the way Tilton was at UA and Lakefield was at US once both mergers took place . Someone correct me if I am wrong .

Does this mean that he becomes a 'silent' partner of sorts?

its a way for Horton to bow out gracefully. He will me gone in 6 mo with his stock options.

Its a fraternity guys. Nothing you can do about it!!!!!!

Regardless of the outcome, all in management will walk away with $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$#$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$....infinity!
Cue the violins!
