How evolution found God

Don't you have someone to hate? Zeus is the screen name of a former US Airways Executive. He thought he was God but nobody believed him!!
I won't get in between anyone's argument here but would like to share something that I experienced many years ago. I was out with my friends one Friday evening, sitting in a lounge, when in walked a man who sat down next to us. We had small talk, traded names and such, and one of my friends happened to say, 'Oh God', Did you hear about..... and immediately, this man jumped in and said, 'There is no such thing as a God'! Well, we weren't about to argue because we all knew where that would go. This man went on and on about evolution and it was impossible for there to be a God, Supreme Being, etc. The more he spoke, the louder he got until the Barkeep cut him off. He left the Lounge and within 3 minutes we hear a car screech its tires and hear a 'Thump'. We ran outside and here is the same man laying in the street bleeding out of every orifice and moaning, Oh God... Oh God... Help me! Please help me God! He passed away in front of me, lying there on the road, and I thought to myself, If there is no God, then why was he calling for one in his hour of death?

I guess you would have to ask him.

One possibility is that most people fear death. When some are in that situation they will reach out to what ever their instinct tells them to real or not. Whether or not he really does believe or not is some thing only he knows for sure.

I was held up at gun point and never wondered about the here after or called to any of the thousands of gods. My parents saw some of the worst that man kind had to offer and lost all faith in god.

I am sure there are people who were devout all their life and loose it when some final hardship breaths their faith. That does not mean they actually lost faith.

Contrary to popular beliefs, there really are some atheist in fox holes.

Perhaps asking him would have been tough as he died. BTW, when did you learn to spell the word 'LOSE'? Do you lose weight or are you just 'Loose' with your vocabulary? No wonder I stay from these threads!

Would The World Be Better Off Without Religion?
A rabbi, a descendant of Charles Darwin, a philosopher and a scholar walk into an auditorium.

It sounds like the start of a bad joke, but the group came together for the latest Intelligence Squared U.S. debate and faced off two against two on the motion "The World Would Be Better Off Without Religion."

Before the Oxford-style debate, moderated by ABC News' John Donvan, the audience at New York University's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts voted 52 percent in favor of the motion and 26 percent against, with 22 percent undecided. Afterward, 59 percent of the audience agreed the world would be better off without religion, while 31 percent disagreed — making the side arguing for the motion the winners of the debate. Ten percent of the audience remained undecided.

Given that your argument is limited to a spelling typo it is probably best that you do not participate in the threads. You would only embarrass your self anyway.

There was never an argument. I was merely pointing out how un-timely it would have been to ask a dying man why he asked God for help. Perhaps you would have.

I would not have cared one way or the other. You were the one who entered the fray. If you have a point of view to present then go for it. If it was just to criticise a typo and that is all you have then I am not sure why you even bothered.

How respectful that is. I would not have cared one way or the other. I believe you. You would have probably spit on him, walked on and mumbled under your breath, 'How dare he cry out to God for help'! I never entered a fray, you want to make it one. As far as your typo, many people seem to 'LOOSE' the correct spelling of LOSE, and I think it kicks yer butt that I pointed it out to you! No worries, you will get better! I doubt it was a typo, but I will give you the benefit of doubt!
Have a Great Week !!!

It's just another example of the Arrogant and Bigoted attitude and approach of the Atheist. Honestly what would you expect?

When I pointed out the Genocide perpetrated by Atheist Governments and how it trumps even the very best efforts of any/all organized religion world wide in a mere 80 years as opposed to the combined genocide in the name of God since recorded time, what did we hear? CRICKETS.

The track record is clear, Atheism equals DEATH!!! Why you could look it up.

That is what you got out of my comment? What I could not care less about was the fact that he claimed to be an atheist and called out for god. I made no comment about the fact that he was dying. Were I able to render assistance I would have done so.

You believe what ever you want about the typo. I even know the difference between your home and where you're going.

By posting in in the thread you have tossed your hat in the ring. You share3d a story to make a point other wise you would not have done so. The fact that you seem unwilling to engage further is somewhat perplexing. A new perspective would be welcome in my opinion.

Father of the gods and man

In the ancient Greek religion, Zeus (play /ˈzjuːs/ zews[3] zooss; Ancient Greek: Ζεύς; Modern Greek: Δίας, Dias) was the "Father of Gods and men" (Πατὴρ Θεῶν τὲ καὶ Ἀνθρώπων) [4] who ruled the Olympians of Mount Olympus as a father ruled the family. He was the god of sky and thunder in Greek mythology. His Roman counterpart is Jupiter and his Etruscan counterpart is Tinia.

I thought I was busy hating Christians? So many people so little time.

From your link:

Our ancestors did not always have religion, yet many religious practices seem to have very ancient origins. So when did religion first evolve?

All these 'religions' deal with gods decending from the heavens in thunderous entrances.

All these religions deal with 'winged' angels ascending to the heavens to fiery chariots.

Ever pass through your mind these are descriptions by people who have no concept of the technology they witnessed and no easy way of describing it?

Ahhh....bet you don't believe in UFO's either....might prove God.

I have never seen a UFO nor is there any evidence that they exist or have visited our planet so I do not believe in them in terms of knowing they exist.

I do belive that it is likely that we are not alone in the universe. The known universe is estimated to be about 10 billion years old. There are billions of stars and who knows how many nets around theses stars. It seems statistically unlikely that we are alone. Possible but doubtful.

How do you get from UFO's to god?
