I wonder how AA will ever be profitable with these web special fares i just just received via e-mail valid for travel between 9/7-11/18-04 w/tickets purchased by 8/2/04.

...in reality, it's not that bad. Since it will be virtually all nonstop, the fares won't get split between two or more flights. It's not great, however, capacity can be controlled to specify how many seats can be sold at that fare...in addition, if the flights have empty seats and you fill them with this, you're covering variable cost...
