This is a *bad* idea!
Trying to combine the ESSC and COPFS books would be bad enough without having to deal with the nightmare of assimilating the workgroups.
The training costs would be huge (imagine trying to train 4000 reluctant ESE's), and the ill will would last for years.

Kev3188,
I absolutely agree with you, that it(bottom line) would make no sense, (to US) !!
But sadly, what we employees/retiree's think is dumb, and what management thinks is dumb, is(as you well know) as different as Apples and Oranges.
With that said, It would'nt surprise me one bit, if NW(or any management) tried it.
Knowing that(in NW's case) that DTW,MSP, MEM and IND, would vote yes for it, because it would'nt affect them, as long as hourly rates of pay, and pensions were'nt touched. A "language"/staffing % change in the contract, is all it would take to kiss "goodbye" stations like PVD,MHT,BDL, just to name a few(on the east coast), for IAM ESE's.
My (ex) AA tried crap like this years ago.
I don't see it so much as cross utilizing "both" work groups, as I see it as, moving ESE's out, and making the "inside" folks, work inside, and "out".
