If Dl "rolls Over"....... ?

Delta's portfolio of international routes from JFK and ATL to Europe are a rare opportunity for an airline with strength to one part of Europe to consolidate its position to all of Europe. If LHR is your strength then why not fly from Moscow in the east to Paris. Delta offers this strength to AA, then who knows, JetBlue could seize the assets to establish itself in the Atlantic market. To say Delta's JFK routes don't have value is wrong and naive. While its fairly easy to fly to Paris and Frankfurt from most American cities, it would take years to build a system like Delta's, especially from America's premier international airport, JFK.

Mr. Bush his judges, and his CEO friends want to keep the airlines "barefoot and pregnant" to keep fares at firesale prices and break the labor unions. UAL and DAL and U will just keep limping along and losing money.

A number of news org's are reporting DL VERY VERY close to BK/11 AND even equally close to BK/7.

If this happens, what would AA want/need internationally from JFK....???

Besides the LGA shuttle, what else from LGA ....????????

I agree. As the airlines are losing money everything thats connected to the airlines are raking in the bucks. The leases are paid, landing fees, departure taxes, fuel ect. Plenty of money is flowing and will continue to flow as long as we keep showing up for work.

We should shut the whole thing down when UAL goes out. The RLA allows for secondary strikes.

Some of people at AA have been talking to some of the UA people. The UA people say there will be no strike. Also, some of the UA AMTs on another website have been saying that AMFA is going to bring back the same proposal and have another strike vote. Maybe AMFA thinks they are confused. Also, Canale at the IAM is talking like his tail is between his legs. Same with the AFA.

Europe has been open skies for a while. The only restricted destination is LHR. AA could immediately fly the same routes to Europe that Delta flies if they wanted to.

Funny how AA was excluded from that remark. They are limping along as well. Well, actually more like hobbling along. 😛 😛 😛

UAL and U are IN bankruptsy. DAL is very very very close to it. AA not so close but could be if conditions continue. I'll agree with "hobbling."

Oh, spare me. Substitute "Pan Am" for "Delta" and you have all the spin that was put by DL on their purchase of the JFK and FRA hubs 13 years ago... It still hasn't panned out for them the way it was supposed to.

I believe AA already has most if not all of the authority DL has out of JFK. Some of it came along with the TWA certificate, and most of it was already on AA's certificate.

Any proof on this same contract or is it just hearsay? Also I know it has been stated several times if a new contract is brought back it would require another strike vote per the constitution. If no contract is brought back the old vote rides on. Not sure about a new strike vote if the judge ordered the last offer be voted on, like at USAirways. My money is on the judge ordered vote, not even going to try and predict that vote but if it does go down, a strike would occur. Then again, there is a reason that I stay away from Vegas. 🙄

Former ModerAAtor,

Your right about all this Pan Am & Delta stuff but, AA has more interest in such service from Chicago. AA does have the same landing rights from TWA as Delta does but JFK is still the 800 pound Atlantic Gorilla. Some airlines may love their hubs, given the home turf advantage but JFK is still the New York Yankees of Atlantic airports. To anyone on this board JFK needs no explanation.

From the moves DL has made over the past 18 mos, my predict would be, in 2 yrs from today, DL has been in Ch 11 and is offering itself for merger. Every hub except ATL is a contract wipeout away from disappearing overnight. At that point all DL is is:
A one union legacy
One excellent hub
some Int'l
World class engine shop in ATL
no heavy A/C MX

Im worried you may be right.

Nice reply.. Reading your dribble is quite frusturating at times. Your support of AMR is obviously understandable, but you seem to think DAL's demise is imminent. I tend to disagree. Jerry said 2005 would be tough at 45 dollar oil. Now it will be even tougher. Will the creditors believe in our plan enough to lift us into 2006 when the cuts really take hold? Who knows, but I am willing to bet "yes". You have no idea what is going on at DAL and most of what you say in flamebaiting. And by the way, I feel sorry for you if your a-s is hairy and I do not want to kiss it.
