I know the odds are against US, but what if we actually do make it. Will US finally exploit their presence in BOS? Jet Blue is about to announce 2 new cities and additonal frequencies from BOS. AA is adding service to Ierland in the spring. There is no reason why US can not do the samething. It will be time for US to exploit their strongest assets.

Dude,

U already exploits its greatest assets...all 27,000 of us 🙁

it seems that the only place U wants to grow is the most screwed up city PHL

Assuming that the company succeeds in cowering the IAM, there's still the issue of cash burn. U's cost structure goes way beyond just slashing compensation and lowest-bidder outsourcing.

Delta's initiated the end-game strategy for both UAL and U. DAL's gonna try and bleed U of the last of it's blood in the next few months, that is unless the company doesn't implode on it's own sooner.

Winglet,

I'm not sure this is the end-game stradegy for U and UAL that many either are thinking or hoping. Hey, Delta jumped first and the press is ALL loving and ADORING DAL as usual. All I have heard for years is the jaw flapping about all these restrictions. Now they are about to fall...finally. Part of U's "transformation" is to simplify the prices. So DAL beat us to the punch with the restrictions. I think this will only be better for US Airways, but this is only my opinion.

Just trying to start a thread about a positive outcome. Maybe impossible here. It seems like the business plan for the competition is for US to fail. What if that doesn't happen? What will they do and what will the naysayers say if we do survive?

You are to be commended for your efforts. If Bronner really did care about US Airways's survival, he would pump in an insane amt of $$ to turn the thing around. He has proven himself to be nothing more than an egotistical LIAR!! He has b!tched and moan for 2 or 3 years about lowering cost or vacating. Here he is with almost all he wants and not a word spoken. Where is the big mouth money bag? It's hard to be positive when you see the deafening silence of those who have made the most noise in the past. <_<

We need to expand internationally (especially Europe). Although we are adding Venice and Barcelona we are dropping 2 r/t's to LGW. So there really is no increase in available seats. Weren't we supposed get start taking A330 -200 deliveries this year? We need them desperately. We should keep GLA year round and do a SNN/DUB single plane during the off season rather than drop them for 6 months. We also need to put Transatlantic out of BOS and JFK. In JFK's favor is the huge NY area O/D . You don't need to hub JFK. It hubs itself. If we had bought widebodies rather the F-100's I think that things would be different as would we.

I don't think USAirways is scheduled to take ANY Mainline size aircraft until 2007. At that time, assuming survival, the A330-200's (7) will merely replace the spent B767-200 fleet.

If USAirways survives it will be a force to be reckoned with if we have the right management.

We won't.

(have the right management, that is, nor thereby survive.)
