What's new

IF we had 747s

US flew non-stop from PIT, PHL, TPA, CLT, IND to the west coast with no scheduled stops.

They converted some 737-300s to 737-300LR by installing Aux tanks in the rear cargo bin.

The 737s were the 500 tail #s.

Very nice! Cool pic! Ah, but then again if I had blue eyes I would be married to Prince Charming by now. When I wake up they will still be brown and we will still be flying Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 767-200 to Athens and 757-200 to DUB. Fuel stops and all.

It's hard to do the Prince Charming thing when I can't get my horse through security.
And without the horse, the brown-eyed F/A's don't realize I'm Prince Charming.

I don't see how, but ok. Heres one for you. About ten days ago had a 737-300 doing phx-sjc. Std. fob 19k, 35 pax 6n/r's. Curfew flight. 5 min prior to push phx cc says we have to move 17 pax to the back rows, CLP won't except it. So get the pax moved, have to get a curfew extension, piss off the pax as they look forward over all those empty seats. Made it in to sjc without a fine, but why was CLP picked over what we had ??? Its killing the OTP.

Although I prefer to forget him, yes my ex-husband (#3) Frank D'Agostino is on the 747 for Northwest Orient. When we first got married he was based in ORD so it was a real easy commute to PIT. When he transfered to MSP, the commute got tough. I had to fly Northwest Orient down to ORD to catch USAir to PIT. Finally, after they merged with Republican I was able to fly Northwest Orient directly to PIT. The commute took its toll on our marriage. The final straw was the video tape I found of his Manila overnight. He is still with NWO but should be ready to retire any day now. He has been married to a Republican gal since the early 90s. I rode the 747 a lot back then. I don't think the American West crowd we have now could handle it.
Manila....I'm sure there's some stories there! Gosh, I miss it there! Already booked a trip there in March. Although I won't be making any tapes my wife will find!
Are those 747 pilots still flying with US today?
Any chance US getting anything bigger than the A330? (not to beat the horse but is this what's expected to compete with China service in '09?)

Thank you for knowing your place and bowing down to Gloria Holtz.

Your comment smells like seniority envy. You know Gloria gets full retirement from Social Security in 8 more years. Maybe then I will consider retiring. You know at 65 --- like the rest of America. Just because you are unhappy doesn't mean us senior gals are put out to pasture when we have the change of life. Hey-- if I am having too much fun and keeping passengers happy on a transatlantic tue/wed/thu with summer and Christmas vacation, I will fly until I fail recurrent. Don't forget - I was once on reserve too. When I was hired on by Allegheny it took a few years to get off reserve.

I helped build this airline I can be as loud as I want.

seniority envy?
i could care less about seniority since im only in US temporarily. im moving on to better things. its not like I've made a career out of US anyway.

unhappy?
nope. im a happy kinda guy. im just shocked you're not a grumpy old hag. you're happy serving pax--good for you.

i just had to bring up you're comments. anytime an old employee uses their seniority to justify petty things, it rubs me the wrong way.

yeah, i have a loooong way to go until im 65. very long way. until then, i can also be as loud as i want, even if i didnt help build this airline.

cheers

Gloria....you really are an ignorant son of a...well you know what! LOL. America West flew the 747 for quite a while to Honolulu and Nagoya. There are many PHX based FAs at US Airways who remember it fondly. So yes, they have been on a widebody. Im an east FA and I found offense to your comments. Get the info straight before you open your mouth on here. Cant wait to hear your loud mouth in PHL.
A couple years is not quite a while and they also flew those 747's between PHX and LAS and JFK. I've heard stories from the AWA people about how there would be 1 person going from HNL-NGO. At any rate whatever was going on in that time frame it drove AWA into bk and the rest is history. They also flew the DH8 as a mainline aircraft during that time. The whole thing is actually very interesting and the fact that it all happened on the watch of a different leadership makes the whole discussion moot.
