Does anyone know what the routing is and do they plan on testing it on every flight, etc?

I thought about trying to catch a flight to check it out.

Heard it was supposed to be continuously cycled on a SNA-PHX-ATL routing, but maybe someone else knows for certain.

I've heard basically the same - just didn't remember which west coast city. Apparently the IFE vendor is located out there and they want to get the plane through there frequently (especially overnights) so any teething problems can be worked out.

I would assume that this IFE will never see the light of day unless it is 100% cost neutral to the company (ala Continental). Do we know what the actual financial deal is btw US and the IFE provider, if it is actually installed?

It is supposed to be SNA-PHX-ATL. Lumexis (the IFE company) is based here in Orange County so I guess thats why the plane will RON here most of the time. I looked at the routing yesterday and it wasnt scheduled to come into SNA or ATL for the next 5 days, but we all know how easily routing can change. I will take some pictures and post them if it comes in overnight during one of my shifts.

Last night it RON in JFK, Today's routing is JFK-PHX-MEX-PHX-GDL

I don't think they are testing it yet, my guess is it was just installed but not activated?

The system is installed but not activated uitlt he FAA STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) is signed off by the FAA.

Love it already. Looks great, especially once they add the plastic frame around it to cover the cuts showing on the seat. If this passes all the tests, is this going on just the single isle Airbus, or the entire domestic and international fleet?

For now just Airbus NB Fleet.

Is that the seat-back screens include a credit card swipe so that it has the ability to sell pay-per-view movies, drinks and food, and possibly initiate catalogue sales???? Free LiveTV without charge?? Free visit any web mail like Yahoo Mail, Google Mail, or your email provider to check email messages?

I'm sure that means Narrow Body....the wide bodies have an entirely different system and the new A330's are coming with a brand new Panasonic IFE system.

Ah. That's probably it. Thanks.

But Airbus claims not to even manufacture "narrow body" aircraft. Their A320 series are described (by them) as "standard body." For Airbus, "narrow body" is reserved for describing Boeing and Douglas single-aisle aircraft.
