I don't condone Illegals sneaking into the USA,....seriously I do NOT.

And since we know where the democrats stand on the Issue(meaning a fence), for this opinion, they are a non-entity.

Reagan gave Illegals, amnesty, so for this discussion, he becomes a non-entity.

But what about(almost) "12" years of the "BUSH's"(with regard to a fence)

But here's the "kicker". The GOP SCREAMS ..."STOP ILLEGAL Immigration", knowing full well that their LEADER, has NO SUCH inclination to do so !!

IF I was a GOP Senator, and I had a group of fellow senators who made Immigration our TOP priority, I'd march into the WH, and THREATEN BUSH, that our group would be joining the DEMS, on up coming votes that were "to close to call"(on several other Issues), if he DID'NT ACT Immediately on the Immigration Issue, and cover my A$$ at home, by telling my constituants WHY I was going to Drastic measures !!

Yea, and evidently Washington DC has so insulated itself from its citizens, they Repubs/Dems alike have no clue to what the American people want or expect from its leaders. The States are now taking it upon themselves to enforce the laws. Im starting to take Gars stance more seriously when he says we need to get rid of the whole corrupt lot and start over.

On the bright side is electing a person who will END this invasion/ and Number 1 drug corridor in to America. RON PAUL! Who also insists on ending auto birth right if neither parent is American.

Now if California will only take a good look at Arizona and OK laws and save the Golden State. I esp. love the part that puts employers in jail. I think many Americans will make it their mission to turn employers INCLUDING the neighbors who hire the illegal gardner/maid/handyman (the ones whose children you and I have to support on welfare and in our over crowded schools.)

Next predictable step.....the Lettuce company CRIES like a little pussy...."I Can't get anyone to BEND OVER all day, and pick lettuce for 4/5 $ per hour.

Now as the lettuce starts to ROT, the Lettuce company in WILD DISPARE runs ads on TV/Radio/newspapers advertising for "pickers" wanted $10.00 per hour.(No benefits or union of course), but the CO. will get away with that only for a Short while.

THEN lettuce becomes $8.00 a head, in the stores. THAT triggers Investigations into PRICE fixing.

I also like this strategy: A significant disincentive to employers, composed of fines, potential prison terms for repeat employer offenders, etc.

However, without any other economic or political mechanisms, such a strategy may cause a blow to isolationists. Without those political/economic protections, many companies (mostly those that hired illegal immigrants) will be more motivated to ship jobs overseas to keep their cost structure at a similar level to that of the pre-illegal-immigrant-employer-crackdown.

In other words, this strategy may be trading one poison for another poison.

That is not much of a concern to me as I do not mind the shipping off of non-skilled worker jobs, which just so happens to be the typical type of job that many illegal immigrants are currently working. But as I understand, a scenario such as that may be disturbing to you. So, I think it may be a bit more complicated than simply turning the faucet off to satisfy those who hold similar views as yourself; other much more complicated controls would need to be developed.

Valid points GTL, but I think your making a moutain out of a mole hill. I fail to see how you will be able to ship mainly construction type jobs such as housing, landscaping, agriculture, food and hotel service etc... over seas. We've been told time after time that these Illegals are here.... "to do jobs Americans won't", but that is proving to be a falsehood right here in my home state of Oklahoma. The buisness's that have been affected (in a positive way) by the mass exodus here are emergency room visits, social services, incarcerations, funeral homes, insurance companies, auto body shops...etc., however I suspect perhaps the local liquor store has been affected adversely!
