Long time lurker....first time poster....

I have an interview with CAL, later this month. I left a legacy carrier last year after 16 years of employment. Can you guess which one?

Anyway, I have read the boards here and have a few trivial questions:

1. Does CAL have cleaners or do the Flight Attendants Clean the Planes?
2. Does CAL sell meals on board?
3. Any chance of getting based in CLE?
4. Can a reserve call out of time?
5. Were can a find pictures of the uniform?

Any assistance or insight would be much appreciated.

Here are some answers, to the best of my knowledge:

1. CAL apparently has cleaners--I see them getting on and off after most flights, even at outstations.
2. CAL has FREE meals and snacks in coach. I don't think they sell anything other than alcohol and headphones.
3. Can't answer that one, but CO did announce a major expansion in CLE, and you never know.
4. Can't answer that one.
5. Check the CO web site....

Hope this helps. I just met some of CO's management, and I can tell you they appear to really care about their employees.

More answers to your questions:

1. Yes, CAL uses cabin cleaners. It is in our contract that NO FA will clean a cabin during ground time.
2. All meals, when scheduled are free.
3. You will have to do time in EWR or IAH for a while before getting transferred to CLE. CLE will see significant expansion in the next two years. Your chances of getting based there will improve.
4. There are no hourly caps on FA's at CAL. As long as reserves maintain 10 days off a month then you can fly fly fly. Depending on staffing, Scheduling will apply a leveling procedure which spreads flying more evenly amongst reserves. However there are procedures in place where reserves can opt to fly more or less(though there are no guarantees). There is no such thing as "timing out". You must maintain required rest and days off.
5. The uniform can be found in pictures at the CAL website. It's a tired and poorly constructed piece of crap that we have been wearing since 1990.
