Interesting Factoid

Whatever, guys. Just remember the $33K and $60K when it comes time for a PEB.

Whatever, guys. Just remember the $33K and $60K when it comes time for a PEB.

Why?

As someone who experienced the business end of the PEB at UAL, I can tell you that figures such as the ones you're floating had next to nothing to do with the recommendations presented.

That aside, a PEB's recommendations are just that - recommendations.

Neither party is bound to adhere to them.

Of 130M jobs in the US, only 20% pay more than $60K, while the remaining 80% average $33K
And less than 1% of the workforce has an A&P.

UPS just offered their guys $46.99/hr, $97,000, SWA recently settled for around $45/hr, $93,000 CAL is going for around the same, Fed Ex gets $41, $85000. I think those figures would come into play more than your $33k.

Based on salary alone, Arpey's hourly wage is roughly $320.00 ? Did I figure that right? Toss in his 3.7 million in performance bonus stocks and that figure is well over 2 grand an hour. Now, while the OP was talking $29.00 an hour as if it were big bucks, there is still a struggle to pay the bills AND be able to afford to buy their own product that they sell. It's the same at every company pretty much.

Yes, but you see...it's like this.....There's ONE Arpey and thousands of us.....It's much simpler to pay one person millions a year rather than thousands of people thousands over 5 years.

How did that work out for them?
Look around! Capitalism is imploding and the Fat Cats are trying to get theirs before its all over. What we have now is privatized gains and socialised losses.
Marx thought he was witnessing the death throws of Capitalism in his day when in fact he was seeing the birth pains.
By the way Obama is NOT a socialist, he is a capitalist tool.

As an informed investor, you do realize that the $3.7 million listed in the proxy statement (and hundreds of articles on the subject) is the theoretical maximum amount, right? This year, Arpey's millions in Performance Shares turned out to be $184,538, or about $88/hr plus the $320/hr of salary, so Arpey's making about $410/hr this year, not quite two grand per hour.

Still, your point stands. Executives make enough money that day to day expenses aren't a problem for them. It's too bad everyone can't make $410/hr.

You're right. It's cheaper to pay $3 million (this year's total PSP payouts from last month) to 1,000 executives than to pay tens of thousands more to tens of thousands of represented employees. If AA had as few mechanics per plane as UPS (roughly five per plane), it would be no problem to pay them UPS wages. Same with WN's payscale. WN has almost as many planes as AA yet about one-third as many maintenance employees.

Today AA Management bought the Tulsa Base Emlpoyees CAVE MAN Pie-Hole Fillers, common called donuts.

A PIe-Hole filler along with the paper Customer Experience Award check made for more NO voters.
If we just sit back and wait a little, management will have this agreement rejected by 90%

It's poppycock to suggest that the only mechanics that work on UPS or WN planes are the ones employed by those carriers. Remember, their maintenance is outsourced?

No such suggestion was made. You missed my point,: The airlines not performing their overhaul inhouse employ thousands fewer mechanics and indeed pay them substantially more than AA pays its mechanics. There's not a chance AA is going to pay its thousands of Tulsa and Fort Worth mechanics as much as UPS pays its 1, 200 or so AMTs or WN pays its 3,300 AMTs. If it did, AA would be paying market rate for line maintenance but would be overpaying for its overhaul.

Right, exactly. I'm sure AA could easily afford to pay half as many mechanics $45/hour if the difference in workload was outsourced.

Is that a good solution for the TWU'ers on here?

Whats your stake in this argument? Do you have a dog in this fight? Are you an industry insider or an economic advisor?
While you're at it can you explain to us how executives only get bonuses when AMR makes a profit?
