Is that a WORKING 120v AC outlet next to door 3L on 757?

I noticed what looked to be a standard 120v AC outlet just ahead of door 3L (next to seat 26A) on a US-East 757 last night. Is it functional? Does it provide standard AC power?

Sometimes. I know on the west 737s they worked, we used them to plug in the vaccums to clean the A/C on the RONs (Remain over Nights)

So would a passenger be scolded for plugging in a laptop if they are sitting in 26A/B/C?

probly not, i dont know, i wouldnt want to cause a possible short IMO 😱

I’ve used them to power my laptop without the wing falling off the aircraft or reformatting my hard drive, but that’s not to say a FA won’t holler at you. It’s my understanding that they’re actually for ground staff running a vacuum cleaner.

Hey, who remembers the electric razor outlets in the DC-9 lavs?

Or the little slots to dispose of your used double-edged razor blade....

As for the outlets, as long as you've got a cord with plug and not a "brick" with prongs, it should work fine. At least on the Boeings I've flown the receptacle is recessed so a "brick" won't plug in.

That begs the question...where are these types of outlets found on other aircraft in the fleet?

Careful what you plug in,a lot of them are 400 Hertz not 60 (at least on DAL planes).

Doesn't matter for most power supplies for electronic equipment. The power goes through a transformer first which doesn't care how fast the current is alternating. Then the lower voltage is rectified for the DC output.
