What's new

Islamic sharia law will be the basis of legislation in newly liberated Libya

Agreed but we as a nation would not have been involved. Let the secular Arabs, Jews and Islamic Fundamentalists duke it out while we eat popcorn and enjoy the show. Further I say we sell weapons to all three. Perfect place to test new stuff before issuing it to our military.

You said something like this before and as I previously said the second you sell weapons to one side you become invovled. Even if we don't sell weapons we are involved wether we like it or not. Being a superpower means we cannot kid ourselves into thinking we are'nt.

Take Syria for example. We just pulled out our ambassador out due to concerns about his safety. He had voiced his support to the opposition and the next thing you know Assad loyalists are throwing rocks at him. Before you know it someone throws a gernade. You might say he should have said nothing then we would not be involved. There's one problem with that, the opposition might interpret that as support for the Assad regime. That means you have the other group pissed off at you. Damned if you do damned if yhou don't.

Well you got it wrong......Its THEIR WORLD to convert to Islam and institute a global caliphate.

There is no country called Islam......they want the world.

And they will....and they are here.

Who is "they" and who are "they"?

Even IF BO gets re-elected, I seriously doubt if he's gonna be able to end Capitalism in 4 more years(as you seem to be fearful of)

Everything(in life) in moderation Dell. In this (your) case you might want to consider cutting back on your LIMBAUGH consuption !

How many American jobs has he helped export? Maybe ask his right hand boy Jeff Imelt.
How much of our tax dollars went to oversea ventures?
Know anybody who used to work oil rigs?
How about the UMWA? They got snookered big time....
Where's the jobs? Not here.....

Yeah, you're right.

(hypothetically) 4 more years of BO going at the pace he's been going would NEVER come close to the cluster "d"uck caused by GWB/RC !

I know many. Can't get any time at home they have so much work. They are hiring like mad here in the drilling sector.

Where do get your info?

Are you in TX or ND? UP here in ND the oil boom from the Bakken range is going full tilt to the point where they can't house their people. The drilling companies have built dormitories to house workers. It's a modern day coal camp except the people are well paid and in US Dollars. State wide unemployment is 3.3%.

Now back on topic. I thought Donald Trump had an interesting take on our role in Libya. When guys like Trump start making more sense than our leaders do, I worry. See what you think.

Donald Trump says the removal and killing of Libyan despot Moammar Gadhafi will result in “disaster” because “at least he had control of his weapons,” and under new leadership the United States won’t have any idea whose fingers are on the triggers.

“We spend all this money and it will be worse than Gadhafi — least he had control over his weapons, he had control over the country — I think what’s going on there is going to be worse,” Trump said. “You know what? When you look at him — I could care less for Gadhafi — but when you look at the way they treated him: I mean, these are the people that we are going to be dealing with.

“Do you think we really made a bargain there? We spent billions of dollars and we got nothing,” he said. “The so-called rebels . . . they came to us and said: ‘We need help, we need help’ — we could have said, we are going to give you help but we want 50 percent of your oil for the next 25 years. You know what they would have said? ‘How about 75 percent of the oil — we will give that too.’ What do we get out of it? We get nothing.

“So, you know, people talk about like Libya is a victory — Libya is not a victory — I think it’s a disaster,” he said.

Gas and oil.

In the Gulf???

I did mention oil rigs......many I know have left platform drilling for shale gas......most the rigs left the Gulf or are leaving.

Trump Says Libya Could Prove to Be 'Disaster'

Full Excerpt:
Donald Trump says the removal and killing of Libyan despot Moammar Gadhafi will result in “disaster” because “at least he had control of his weapons,” and under new leadership the United States won’t have any idea whose fingers are on the triggers. The real estate mogul also told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren Tuesday he still questions whether President Barack Obama’s birth certificate is “real.”

I agree, minus the birther comments...
Proves a broken clock can be right once in a cycle...

What? Do you have any idea how many active production platforms there are in the Gulf?

(Hint - 912 would be a good guess for just the Texas international waters)

I could tell you how many helicopter operations there are in a day due to those operations, but it would blow your imagined reality out of the water.

You might want to let all the rig operators in on what you know. They are not in on your secret.

Rig Counts

BP oil well
BP Plc won its first U.S. permit to drill a new oil well in the Gulf of Mexico’s deep waters, clearing the way for the company to resume exploration after the record offshore spill last year.
