Talos. A difficult puzzle indeed. A monumental challenge for the NC. The goal should be, and I believe is with our NC, reaching "a very good all around deal...". for everyone. Will everyone's interests be satisfied? Unlikely, but you kick and scratch for everything you can protect and gain. IMO... that is the challenge the NC is saddled with. The below wing, represented work groups in this industry, however, have demonstrated a history of voting for the money, as long as concessions in other Articles, such as Recognition and Scope, don't have a direct impact on them. I witnessed first hand, as a Teller in the 1st UA/CO Agreement, members in my station who voted for the money, despite the writing on the wall. It was ratified locally by the same margin it was ratified system wide. 70 - 30% I believe. Remarkable! As a result... none of them work here anymore. Our local lost over 30 represented jobs at UA. They either had to locate elsewhere to retain employment, took furlough or were forced to retire. The NC is charged with reaching an agreement that represents the best interest of the entire membership. Even when the membership does not share this thought process. I support the NC in this challenge. However long it takes. A difficult puzzle and challenge. But one worth pursuing IMO.
