The first step is for working class America to realize that we're not a drag on the system; it's us that generates the revenue.
We're not there yet because undoing a generation of messaging takes time. We /won't/ get there by continuing to buy into the idea that we're "just lucky to have jobs," or by accepting concessionary proposals (or work conditions) in an era of unprecedented industry prosperity.

You are correct, the demise of the middle class started 20-30 years ago when Corporate America banded together to focus on shareholder's and start the beat down of the workforce. We are now conditioned to believe we are lucky to have jobs now and "Union" has somehow turned into a negative. I believe that if Unions are going to be successful ever again that it needs to start with a different approach. It will probably take 20 years to change the course but it could be done. It will take an army of dedicated individuals that get trained in how to sell the message. More employee friendly people need to infiltrate the local and national political machine too. The laws that have been passed in the last 30 years have crushed us and if this continues we will all be lucky to have jobs.

Well the problem for the most part is extreme apathy and the sense of entitlement with the people I work with over here. They completely believe that they "deserve" as much as they can possibly get and everyone else out there in the World doesn't really matter. So they don't get involved in anything at all. I'm not sure if they just ignore everyone's else's problems or they just really don't care? 

It's a pretty crummy way to live if you ask me.

A concession in the big picture.
Outsourcing ANY work we currently have.
Taking away ANY sick days (hrs) we currently have.
Taking away ANY holidays we currently have.
Cutting our hourly rate we are currently paid.
Allowing unlimited PT would be a concession.
Cutting our Vacation down would be a concession.
 
And I know I'm missing a few, but you get the idea W so stop trying to make it fit your argument
so you can claim you're right (as usual).
 
We all know there will be some adjust that need to be made on both sides when combining
the two contracts. And yes, some may not be happy that LUS contract verbiage was used instead
of LAA, or vice versa.
 
You know damn well W, the bottom line is a concession is giving something back to the company
that you currently have, not combining contracts and saying, I'M GETTING SCREWED!

Any concession would be shocking in this money making environment for airlines. There will be some areas that don't improve as much as others due to the 2 union contracts but the bottom line is the total dollars and they should surely be able to figure a deal with no concessions. I think the NC knows this is a no brainer and will act accordingly. I just hope when a deal gets done they lay out all the facts about costs and where we stand compared to the other work groups for DL UA .

Please...the demise of the middle class has to do with all the jobs and manufacturing being sent overseas for cheaper labor, taxes, environmental concerns, ect.  America is a shell of itself compared to what it used to be, it is no longer a production country just consumes.  Meanwhile democrats still insist on bringing droves of illegals here which waters down the workforce even more.  Go into any store and pickup any item and its a 90% chance it says "made in China" or some other country.  A a business I'm not going to pay someone $30 an hour to put a hubcap on a car when there is a mile long line of people that will do it for $5.  It's the nature of the beast...but oh just keep voting democrat and you'll show them.  Pretty soon the whole country will end up like Detroit, Pittsburg, Cleveland, and all the slums that have voted democrat the last 50 years.

You are correct. The middle class is still getting eaten alive as the democrats have mobilized with Republicans to sign disasterous trade deals. Crooked Hillary was ready to mobilize with Obama on TPP to put the final nail in the middle class. Democrats also teamed up with Bush and have no plan for the millions of illegals stealing our jobs. What is shameful are the democrats who claim these illegals are only taking fruit picking jobs. In Chicago, hundreds of thousands of illegals take high tech jobs and tradesmen jobs involving construction.

We have to move very very left of where we are on trade deals and we need a President that will fix these trade deals and not be as far right on them as crooked hillary.

Plus, its not like our Labor organizations are serving the union like they should be. Just look at that spirit ta and there is absolutely no reason why a jetblue ramper should even waste his time signing cars.

No doubt there has been an erosion of the middle class in this country. Opinions vary on what has brought this about. IMO... Blame can be laid at the table of all parties. Politicians, Corporations, Global Economics, bad trade agreements that have resulted in the loss of union represented jobs, a different (poorer) new work ethic, a "me first" attitude that is prevalent  in our society today. Even among members and leaders of our labor organizations. A death by 1,000 cuts to organized labor and the middle class in this country is the course we are currently on. Apathy of the vast majority, both represented or not, leads to such erosion IMO. We, as a society and members of organized labor, tend to take for granted gains that have been achieved through years of great sacrifice. We have become a society of entitlement. Not Good; the path we are on folks! That's all I got to say about that...

they said they are asking for the best of both. The reason why we will get more is the same reason why delta got more. I know you like shilling for the iam cuz you arent prepared yet to embrace your elected Local leadership, but you and I both know that the union persons arent prepared to fight for anything, so might as well just sign it already.
