Yes, much better to just sit quietly and not do anything.

????? I can't touch LAA metal ,can't pull one bag off their belt. I think the pay raise made it more difficult for the company if anything. Jester what is a new contract going to get you ? 25 cents an hour and a more expensive medical plan
I think the problem LAA fleet people have is with the IAM and a lack of participation in showing some urgency to get a contract. It's understandable due to the 2 different deals and the difficulty to combine them. It's why I consider the Association a failure. I am at DFW so not many LUS people but I've never heard a negative word towards any LUS workers. I can't speak about other stations, but it's the Association that has allowed the company to stall and take advantage of the situation. I figured the IAMPF caused the Association to be formed. Maybe I'm wrong, but if that's the case if I was an LUS worker I'd want my pension rolled over somewhere else if possible.I have touched plenty of AA metal over the past few years and tangentially worked along side with AA clerks as a connect runner, not to mention, even with the AA clerks in PHX, we still handled AA metal with US agents.
As for what I might get with a new contract? That's exactly my point... both sides have shot their loads and for most agents whatever to be unresolved would be relatively unimportant. There won't be much of a hurry on the US side to approve this JCBA, and I have heard rumors the AA clerks aren't giving much love towards the US side, so they aren't in a hurry to merge operations either.

All members under the Bargaining Unit should be given the choice. It may not end up that way though. At least for some (LUS). The Association Agreement saved represented jobs for both unions. I believe the primary reason the Association was agreed to was to protect represented jobs. An election was what the company wanted with the merger. As with any labor certification election, there is always the chance, based on the vote and turnout, for decertification of a said labor representative. In this case maybe both. Association Agreement was and remains a fly in the soup for the company. Two unions, with two completely different structures, representing two respective groups interests, remains a challenge internally and I'm certain at the table. A challenge I am hopeful we can all (combined membership and respective leadership/committees) overcome.
BTW... I believe my opinion on public picketing has changed. I don't know if the public really cares but it sure seems to have raised the urgency with the company. Signed LUS/IAM member. Happy Labor Day Sisters and Brothers!
Actually, the company wanted the association and notified the nmb that it wanted to voluntarily recognize the Association. Same thing it did with the CWA/IBT according to nmb docs. All members under the Bargaining Unit should be given the choice. It may not end up that way though. At least for some (LUS). I'm waiting for Gary's update. I look forward to his and 591 updates more than the bland Association updates.
You ask and you shall receive, eh!
