Well, according W, if you guys have to give up Catering so we can get mail back, you will just have to adjust.
You guys could spin it, justify it, twist it, glorify it and try to reason it but the fact is we are out about $1000 a month. I can call you selfish I think most of this little click is older and while it might be nice to have can live with out it. Think of the younger employee this money could be put towards a better neighborhood or school or just a better way of life. It's time to get rolling. And before anyone starts with this union rah rah crap out of  120 agents in this station about 7 give a rats a$$ about the union.

I'm speechless W and will just say many better be thankful you were not elected...WOW!
And yes dude, that was me that gave you a RED. If I could have given you more, I would have!
What are you speechless about? I'm trying to understand exactly what you and others consider to be a concession?

The negotiators TA'd the grievance process. One side did it vastly different than the other. So because I prefer the TWU way of doing that and if they went with the IAM way should or shouldn't I consider that to be a concession?

Maybe the CS language TA'd is different than the Policy we have now? If we go the way the agents have it, is it a concession? The company changed the CS Policy a few years back and made it more restrictive. To me leaving it in the company's hands where they can change it any time they want would have been a concession in my mind.

So again explain to me clearly how you view a concession?

Wrong. Try again.

Let's make this even easier to understand. What if the company wanted catering but in exchange gave them Freight, Mail, Fueling, Cabin Service, Facilities cleaning and employee shuttle bus drivers?

For a substantial net gain of jobs. Is any fool out there really going to turn that down?

wht is interesting is that on my last day prior to being out for an injury is that I pushed back a LUS Airbus  the captain told me over the headset most LUS pilots are not happy that LAA is using 738s to take over a number of LUS routes

This is where I say the company is quietly leaving catering for example by replacing select mainline aircraft of LUS with LAA 738s or whatever LAA aircraft the company chooses.   This is one sneaky way the company gets rid of catering   But at same time it leaves a lurch bec the catering folks dont cater flights except the RONs and Originators    Now I know Im talking about cities such as mine  Hubs cant count bec of their sheer size and work loads but its smaller cities like mine that being affected   While we did get cleaning back and we are utilizing catering for some of them  it wont work in all cities   I would hope the negoiators can see this and see the loop holes and hopefully close it up.

Dude, you have my head spinning. Go ahead call me selfish, doesn't bother me one iota. If selfish is wanting something taken during BK, I'm guilty. If selfish is for wanting the money for all (not just the "young") without giving more work up, I'm guilty again. If selfish is wanting to stop this concession mode we are in and have been even before bankruptcy, cuff me once more. I too have bills worldport, school loans, could use another vehicle, wouldn't mind putting more into my retirement. It's not just about the "young', it's about putting a halt to concessions when times are good. I haven't tried to spin anything and I'm not a rah rah guy, but I was raised with a few principles and I also know when I'm being taken advantage of. I too could use the money, but I'm not gonna whore myself to get $1000 more a month for me or the "young".

What a ridiculous question, not gonna happen. Being realistic W, keep Cargo only if Catering goes??

Actually have to admit that this is a very good perspective and questions. Are people who are willing to hold things up to keep their Stations open being selfish to the others who made a tough choice and moved to be more secure, or just happened to be lucky enough to have started and stayed in a hub/ being selfish keeping everyone else from the money?

Good point Worldport.

Ok how about this one then? Should our negotiators hold firm and DEMAND the company gives us back our Pension agreement and retiree medical?

I know I want them back. So I think our negotiators should DEMAND those be returned to me or we do not sign ANY deal till they do.

Are you with me AANOTOK?

No it's not ridiculous. It's meant for you to understand my position and what I mean.

Absolutely I'll vote yes for anything that gives us a "net" gain of jobs systemwide. That can be Stations, job functions or a combination of both.

I'm not looking for a "net" loss. We've already gone too far down that road.

As I have stated before W, I'm not a "restore and more" guy. I DO NOT WANT ANYMORE WORK TAKEN AWAY, especially from a company making Billions now and projected in the future. I want enhancements to what we have now without giving anything up.
To directly answer your question, if you feel that is realistic and that is your belief, sure, I have no problem with that. Now if they don't agree to your "DEMAND", like me, you are one vote and you can vote how you feel you should. But as you told me a time ago, I think we know how that vote would turn out...

WeAAsles not Worldport.

In DFW if they offered you back Cabin Service (around 400 jobs) but wanted encoders (around 50 jobs) what would you say?

It would be very easy to say rotating days off, AA medical and the fact the company still pays   (b)millions into AA retirement plans and not mine should be a no vote I could say LUS is getting screwed. Some things have to change and we have to accept it

What is an encoder?

NO, your missing the whole point W, a company does not need any jobs (concessions) making billions. Period

But let me ask you this W, during the 1113 negotiations, AA was looking to take almost all high seniority jobs. Cabin was gone, mail was gone, they wanted bagroom expeditors, encode, eagle runners etc...would you be alright if AA said we will open all stations with a net gain of 1000 jobs but EVERYTHING is outsourced except for ramp (the loading and unloading of planes). So, either you work bellies and run bags or you find a new job. Remember, you are gaining 1000 jobs, something you see as not being a concession.

A very high seniority job...you sit in a air conditioned room and scan bags as the come by you in a bagroom.
In Dallas, as a clerk, I can barely get it in the afternoons, but with week days off only, not even close to a weekend. And as you know, I have 33 years. You would be OK.

These are the kind of jobs AA is trying to outsource...making the senior guys retire.
Cabin service was high seniority as is cargo. We also had eagle bag runners which was very high.
They took that away in Bankruptcy.
