What's new

JFK Expansion?

Not certain, but it looks like it will be a lot of RJ flying to points in the northeast. DL may be setting up a sort of focus airport / mini-hub operation to support all of that new int'l flying that they've announced.

Dash-8s - Norfolk, Washington-Dulles, Philadelphia, Syracuse, Albany, Hartford, Profidence, Richmond, Baltimore, Washington-National

Who is operating Dash 8's for Delta? That's a step backward...unless they are Q400's. Would it be Mesa?

According to the press release the turboprops will seat 37 which likely means they are using the Dash 8-100 series

great... more small planes competing at high costs and clogging up the crowded skies. yuck.

Mesa Air Group expands partnership with Delta
Lisa Treon
3/7/2006

Mesa Air Group announced an expansion of its strategic partnership with Delta Air Lines today. Under this new agreement, Freedom Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mesa Air Group, will fly 12 37-seat, De Havilland Dash 8 aircraft in support of Delta Air Lines’ expanding operations at its New York-JFK hub. The term of the new agreement is three years.

The aircraft will be operated under a capacity purchase arrangement similar to Mesa's existing Delta Connection agreement under which Freedom Airlines flies 50-passenger regional jets. The Dash 8s covered under this agreement will be incremental to the 16 Dash 8 aircraft currently operated by Mesa Air Group.

Under the agreement the new service will commence between July and September 2006 from Delta's New York-JFK hub. The aircraft are currently scheduled to operate to Washington DC - Dulles; Philadelphia, PA; Syracuse, NY; Albany, NY; Hartford, CT; Providence, RI; Norfolk, VA; Richmond, VA; Washington DC - Reagan and Baltimore, MD.
