July Attrition?

The brutal reality is, there is no massive retirement happening. Otherwise, why would leaves be offered all the way through November? There is no massive "exodus" due to the the "last best five year" rule. No one is leaving. Recalling junior, non dues paying member is not a priority with APFA. As a furloughed member, I've learned the best way to avoid this emotional roller coaster is to accept the brutal fact....we wouldn't be recalled anytime soon. I did not vote for THB. Preserving the pension is the one and ultimate goal of APFA. Not recalling furloughed fas. Now, my question to all of you furloughed fas who voted for the THB administration, what have they done for YOU?

It's the best 4 years out of 10, so doing the math, if someone's best 4 were from 5/99 to 5/03, then they could stay until 5/09 before the Final Average Earnings (FAE) starts to change. Given that we will see no improvement in the formula ever again, adding years of credited service is the only way to make the pension amount rise, so staying til the last possible moment is to their advantage.

Finally posted the July attrition to the Flight Service website (to be fair, the person who does this has been a little busy with the late unpleasantness at LHR).

Mark was spot on with the total--37. 23 Domestic, 14 International. Average seniority of those leaving, 20 years.

Of the total, 24 were retirements. Average seniority of the retirees, 34.7 years. So, once again the other 13 who left (quit, died, got fired) must have been fairly
junior to pull the over all average down to 20 years!

Among the retirees, only 4 had less than 30 years--2 in the teens and 2 in the 20s--and 4 of the remaining 20 had 40 or more years! Total years of service for the 24 wass 835.

As I posted on another thread, I heard that 5 from SLT quit effective 01SEP. The two I know of for sure had 6 and 9 years service.
