Does anyone know what the rules would be for new hires as far as the merged list goes?

Also, most companies are now offering a cash payout to NOT take the health benefits, has the unions negotiate anything like that into the contract?
 
It's almost guaranteed that new hires (off the street, not furloughees recalled to the "other side" during the interim) would go below everyone hired before them - i.e., the bottom of the list.

Despite the increasing costs company-provided health benes are still a better deal than going at it alone (unless the non-aviating spouse has a better deal). I haven't heard of any union effort to do anything other than improve the current coverage.
