Just the facts

Here is the real truth....U employees know that management have us by the short and curlys. We know that the future is uncertain until the judge decides..
I believe most employee who votes think about their life and what they have to lose and vote accordingly unless they are an arse.
Saying that...those employees who see no prospect or have no prospect of another job will vote yes...employees who have invested a lot so far will vote yes...

..........What I would like to see addressed is the fate of the wholly owned airlines..who according to CC;they wont be able to come out of BK unless they have their union ratify pay cuts and whatever concessions even though U brought the wholly owned into BK as usairways group but as usairways group emerge they will be seperated.

The point is, the WN wage is not a BARRIER to profitability. Perhaps if U had been better managed over the years, we'd have been profitable as well.

Now that is all water over the dam. But the first rule of holes is to quit digging. This company MUST be managed better to become profitable REGARDLESS of how much we give.

[P][/P]you go talk to most of the 'no' voters and get into a detailed discussion with the FACTS..in most cases i've found these people have all the answers and none of the facts..so many times i've been talking and in just about every case i found out these 'no' people didn't even take the time to go to daves informational meetings.they get together with others in their little 'no' group and come up with some scenarios and situations the company is supposedly going to take and they just feed on each other.next thing you know,rumors are flying like a mach 2 missle then somebody with half a brain comes along and tells them the truth backed up by factual information and they still don't beleive.what does it take? a 2 x 4 upside the head or what?

Chip if this cut is to cover a first quarter shortfall why are they asking the CWA for language that PERMANENTLY eliminates at least 50% of our jobs working mainline jets.

Chip comments: Delta, I disagree and you may have misunderstood the point. The productivity changes are to get the financing required to have the liquidity to survive during the dispressed revenue environment. The financers and ATSB will not give US Airways any (that's zero) additional financing to restructure unless the long-term business plan is sound, in the financers opinion, to produce a profit. In the case of the ATSB, US Airways must provide Fitch Rating with a projection of a 7 percent profit margin over 6.5 years.

If unions do not want to agree to productivity changes they could have done what ALPA did and provide an additional pay cut in exchange for phased in productivity changes.

Here's the deal: The financiers are setting the rules and are demanding the cuts, not management. Either the union’s give or the doors close just like at EAL.

What I cannot understand is the benefit of a no vote. In fact, I would like to know how a no vote helps anybody.

RSA, the ATSB, and GECAS do not bluff. They set the rules. Either the cuts come, one way or another, or the "money people" have said the "doors will close forever".

What people refuse to understand is no further labor cuts = no RSA DIP financing, no RSA equity investment, no GECAS DIP financing, no loan guarantee, and no GECAS post bankruptcy financing. These people require the cuts and either labor gives or these people have said no more money, period.

Can somebody tell me where I'm wrong with what I wrote in the last paragraph?

Chip, you still haven't answered a question I put to you in a couple of topics. What will you do when they come back for more? Give it to em? Then they will only come back for more. The point is, at some point we have to make a stand. This round of cuts may pass. Mark my words though, they will be back for more. Cause they know they are dealing with a bunch of sheep. What will you do when they want that great ALPA pension? When they want to outsource even more ALPA jobs? Tell me Chip. Don't be a chicken and dodge the issue.
 
I have a Question. This may sound harsh but difficult times call for difficult questions. If a union votes no to any of the latest T/A agreements and under the current threat of liquidation would you say that this group says I am no longer willing to work under the current offer from management. The company can still ask the judge to end this unions contract and then management can ask each employee in this union if they would like to stay on under the new T/A. I'm sure most of the Yes vote employee's will stay and in a short time they could recall employee's or hire employee's from other airlines to fill the open positions. I know this sounds like union busting but if there is no company then there is no union. This seems like a better solution than chapter 7. With all the open positions from the no vote employee's the company can save more money as they will not hit A scale till around the end of this new T/A. I have decided to vote yes and see if I can get by on the new T/A agreement. If not I can always leave later and I can keep my medical and use up my sick time while I take my time and look for another job. It just does not make sense to vote myself out of medical ins.and a job in this job market.
