Labor Tensions Rise After DL/NW Merger

Can you say "BUH BYE" iam......LOL.
35% is nothing to achieve on the ramp side if we were to hold a vote now. I believe that the the IAM will win the 50% + 1 to unionize the DL ramp. The counter may need some more work to reach the 50% + 1 but it can be done. LOL you say. I don't think that thousands of dedicated employees possibly losing weeks of vacation, earned sick and OJI time, is LOL. Not to mention the contract language stopping the farming out of stations at a whim as Richard has done in the past. I think the folks at DL have seen enough, and have given enough to Richard and his gang of thieves. The billions of dollars he stole, or synergies as he calls it, from the employees at both airlines need to come back to us, and the only way to achieve that is through the union memberships support.

Lineguy has been there and done that. I believe you are all going to be walking in his shoes soon enough. I'm sure it won't be any more fun for you as it was for him. Believe the phrase "what comes around goes around" or is it "what goes around comes around" comes to mind.

Funny how no one cares until it happens to them. Funny how after you've been through it you pretty much have no compassion for anyone else. Or is it the same compassion others showed him?

You may be correct that if the ramp voted now the union may get in, but after Delta determines what stations stay and what ones close I doubt there will be enough votes then. Sucks that they have the upper hand and the unions hands are tied.

It's been clear since August of 2005 that the only union NW would put up with is the pilot union, same goes for Delta. Pilots have shown that they could care less about the other work groups and that was also apparent in August of 2005.

Good luck, IMHO even your best fight (union and all) it's not going to be good for most.

Very Very simple stategy for the (NW) IAM.

First, Find out NOW, how many union ESE's there are in current NW stations.

second, Find out how many "BELOW THE WING", and "NO DGL/DLG DL/rampers there are in wherever cities they are in !

third, if the DL number is larger, calculate how many DL rampers that you need to convert, starting with the "out stations" like BOS/JFK/LGA/EWR/DCA/ORD/LAX/SFO/PDX/SEA,......then lastly ATL/CVG/SLC

Look at it exactly like last weeks election, going after the BLUE states first.

Thats not to say that there are not guys in ATL that don't want any union.(I'd wager conservatively..25%)

This has to be done FLAWLESS, with The IAM making sure that anderson doesn't try a few "end around" tricks like saying that the people "above the wing" should be counted, or the flunkys from DLG/DGL(whatever in HEL* there name is)

The "Lists's" need to be up to date, on a DAILY basis. NO...If's and's or but's !!

And Union dues !

"Meanwhile, Delta Chief Executive Richard Anderson said the company will increase pay for nonunion employees starting Jan. 1, when union employees will also see pay increases from their contracts."

I take it this raise/reparation was in the unions current contract ?......................Highly doubtful !

Anderson has already said that after the representational elections, he'll be looking at each city on a case by case basis. That alone should be enough for rampers on both sides to vote yes.

calculate how many DL rampers that you need to convert...

Back of the envelope math puts that number at roughly 33%...

Did you not read what you just posted? We're getting one, too. Furthermore, there's nothing in our CBA's stopping DL from granting this increase to everyone, but you knew that, right?

DAL leadership must salivate when they think how ignorant guys like you are. You make it too easy for them....

Sorry Kev, your wrong again and yes Delta Execs. are drooling at the prospects of idiots like you , who cannot seam to comprehend anything outside the union blinders they are wearing !

Now read my previous comment again ! Now I'll drop it to your 3rd grade reading level !

"Your Union DID NOT get you the raise/reparation, your getting in Jan. 09" !

In fact , I'm getting a raise too.....................minus UNION DUES !

Yes they did. It was negotiated as part of the T/A ratified in August of '06 (while in BK).

Were I a betting man, I'd say they find us a potential threat to their little fiefdom, while salivating at the way folks like you buy into what they're selling without question.

While we're at it, do you not find it interesting that you guys usually get a raise right about the time a card drive gains steam on the property?

I find it very ironic that you like to call me an idiot while never having your facts correct. At least you have no shame, I guess...

By the way, I'm still waiting for a coherent (non-emoticon laced) response to all the questions I've asked you over the last few months. How's that coming along?

I love what the JetBlue pilots stated:

Many at Delta/NW feel the same: (RED being the Delta/NW insert)

"Our message was clear and sincere: We are fully supportive of our leadership (once the Union contracts are signed); we have a deep appreciation for the special employer that JetBlue Airways (New Delta)(Delta/NW CAN BE)is; and we wish to see our pilots (Delta-NW FA/Ground/Clerks/ Mechanics) and our airline remain deeply committed to each other while operating in true partnership via lawful negotiation. We outlined our primary issues with regard to our current process. Without support under the rule of law, providing for our pilots (Delta/NW EMPLOYEES) in a manner appropriate to their status as career employees often is not legally possible. This underscores our need to have a relationship based not on the benevolence of a leadership team that could transition at any time, but on a relationship where there exists a means to resolve our private discourses under the support of legal process. It is our processes that are flawed, _NOT our memory and EXPERIENCE with the current Northwest/Delta leadership__________

Hey Kev, NxNW,

Imagine if you guys get a union in at the new DL, and a lot of fellow ATL employees(in your respective groups) suddenly become.."UPPITY"

The ONLY thing funnier than that would be the "economy BOMB" that landed on John McCain

(possible scenario)...Jamal has 1 day occ. seniority over Southwind. (Conversation ensues thusly)..."Southwind....YOU get you arse in the Belly, and if you don't like it, go get a steward"

Honestly NHBB

Once the Unions get settled in I see love and great working conditions. There are many more pro Union, highly professional Delta folks there than what is represented by some on this board. Luke, BAbb, Coop (many others, sorry if I left your names out) and a few others are the majority there...God knows we have a few Southwinds, dopes here as well.

Once NW/New Delta realizes they will have to make the best with Unions, it will be one helluva ride with a great airline! That issue however could determine if this whole thing blows in their face...cause I can tell you that it will not be a pretty sight should NW people be denied a Union.
