LAS being downsized?

Incorrect. They date to at least the late 1990s, at least from PIT.

And from PHL. When the 319/320 arrived in 99, the LAS redeyes between PHL and LAS became baby busses. I remember we had two redeyes between LAS and PHL -- an early and a late. Eventually, they wised up and the route went back to the 757.

If US somehow managed to acquire some 757s or they could truly pull off a weight restricted A319 flight I would hope for some competition on DCA-LAX with Alaska Airlines and perhaps wishful thinking but I'd like to see DCA to SAN/SFO and make some of the commuters lives much easier 🙂

I stand corrected then, I commuted back and forth from RDG-LAS every three weeks from Mar 1995-Aug 2002. I could have sworn that my flights on 757's wasn't long. Did they use 1L as entry/exit back then?

It was that way from CLT for a while too. I believe there was a time when US has 6 flights to LAS (2 to each hub) and all of them were redeyes!

I sure hope US Airways makes an announcement sometime soon about their turboprop plans for Piedmont, like maybe a mixed fleet of Q300s and Q400s. I believe high fuel prices are here to stay.
Can’t ALPA who represents both express and mainline won’t allow it
