Where are you going with this? I'm not sure.
Stay with that thought......
Where are you going with this? I'm not sure.
The Family Values crew endorsed Santorum.
I think it is a case of 'if my guy does it it's OK if your guys does it, he's scum'. Then you have the fact that Gingrich said he was sorry. So all is good. Never mind the fact that he screwed over two women and the fact that he is the guy fighting for traditional marriage. In his defense he never said that you could not get married more than once and that you could not cheat. Also, given that 50% of marriages in the US end in divorce I guess he is doing his part in defending the tradition that is getting married, screwing around, getting divorced .... repeat as necessary.
OH yea, how could I forget. He loves his country so much that he worked to hard and screwed around on his wives. Way to take one for the team.
I was watching a bit of the debate tonight. Santorum ripped him a new one. Basically said that he worked with Gingrich when he was Speaker and that Gingrich could not stay focused. Gingrich got kicked out of the Speaker position and basically out of Congress by his own people. Pretty heated exchange. I was laughing my butt off.
The fact that John King brought up the issue on what is an alleged serious debate of the issues I found disturbing to be polite. When the bias is as blatant against Republicans and Ron Paul as it is in the MSM then I think you understand why Ron Paul has to date garnered 50% of the under 30 vote. Why? because most rely on other sources for their news IMO. Additionally Newt has decided to come out swinging, taking Mr King of CNN to task for his blatant bias the former Speaker said, “I am tired of the elite media protecting Barack Obama by attacking Republicans.”
I for one am tired of the MSN & I include Fox in that cabal of dim wit talking heads and it's about time for ALL of us to tell them to pizz off, Get your news elsewhere. That tide of sentiment is rising and it's long overdue in boiling to the surface. This is the reason that both Gingrich and Paul have a shot at beating both Romney AND Obama. I'm convinced in my gut the reason the two are doing as well as they have is the average American has an inate sense of fair play and love them or hate them, Stevie Wonder could see they aren't getting a fair shake.
There is a whole lot of anger out here in the USA and somebody is going to take a hit for it. I think it explains Huntsman, Perry & to a lesser extent Bachmann's dismal performance, same for Pawlenty.
Gingrich can cry all he wants but I believe in his case the question was entirely warranted. He is a hypocrite and he knows it and now everyone else does as well. When you tout family values and traditional marriage while you are banging away with a woman who are not your wife while your current wife is sick and then you do it again, well that really goes to credibility of which he has none.
Gingrich and Santorum are going to go the way of Perry, Hunstman, Bachmann..... and the rest in my opinion. It will come down to Paul and Romney and Paul will throw his hat in with Romney. Then the conservative right will have to determine if they hate mormons or Obama more. I love election years.
All well and fine but looks like he kicked MSM's butt last night, and his polling isn't dropping.
Two standing ovations in the debates and Gingrich got both. He'll carry the Conservatives.
The problems plaguing this country go beyond some antigue quiff.

I thought conservatives were all about family values and the sanctity of marriage? I mean they hounded Bill Clinton before his election and the eight years he was president about what he was doing. How ironic would it be that the party that portrays itself as the standard bearer for those two issues turns around and nominates a guy who makes Bill look like Wrad Cleaver.
I'm OK with Jim DeMint actually. Not all hot to trot, just OK.
I've spent a fair amount of time in SC on business and pleasure and I will go this far towards agreeing with you. There is a very strong undercurrent of racism in SC. it's right under the surface and being both white AND a Yankee I always got the feeling that I wasn't all that far from an invitation to a cross lighting ceremony. the "Vibe" is there, that's for sure.
As for the Family Values crowd, you are IMO running some of this through your atheist prism and being a bit unfair although I should add that while I am a man of deep personal faith, you and I likely hold similar viewpoints regarding the various church organizations and that's a whole thread in and of itself.
One of the things I absolutely loathe about the Conservative movement is this tendency to take the Bible, Declaration of Independence, Ron Reagan and wrap it up in the American Flag. This, however is not unique to SC. Perhaps just more visible there. As to your comments regarding hypocrisy, no less then Jesus himself railed not against sin but hypocrisy a fact ignored by the modern Church. After-all he threw the money lenders out of the Temple not for being sinners, but for being Hypocrites. To single out SC in this regard fails to give credit to the rest of the hypocrites.
