Word around Tulsa is that both AFW and MCI are to be gone.

I can`t argue with that. Approx 2000 here at afw. What does mcie have? Maybe 1000? 😛Not that I am subscribing to the rumor mill press, but If you think about it.....1300 maintenance personnel are getting laid off......WHERE ARE THEY COMING FROM?
I think that at least one overhaul base will be drastically effective....Maybe AFW, Maybe MCI........

I guess we'll be finding out soon..
The problem with closing MCI, which I don't think they will, is because of the "deal" they made with the city maintaining a certain employment number when AA bought TWA..
If they were to pull out of MCI, AA would have an enormous price to bay with respect to the EPA cleanup there.
At AFW until yesterday... 😱Question Plz.
Where is ALL the 777 work being done ?
(Engine work as well) ?
Thanx
Are you drunk, carnak?THE WORD IS THE 777 @ AFW IS GONE!!! HERE COMES THE #### $ANDWICH!!!! GET READY DFW.....HERE IT COMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THX TWU!!!!!!!!! AFW IS CLOSING!!!!
FURP!
<_< ------dvl, I'm going to be honest with you. First and foremost, is the amount of money AA is giving Mr. Ross per year in lease payments. (a lot!) Second, from what I hear is AA's not getting any work out of you people. ( may, or may not, be true!) Third your reputation for being a bunch of radicals. (again, may, or may not, be true!) But that TWU vice president of yours, and his Article 32 letter, didn't help you guys! Forth, maybe AA has someone in the wings waiting to give AA a deal to take over your lease? ---- Now let's talk about MCI. --------MCI is almost twice the size of AFW, But only has about a total of Approx. 800 people. Older? Yes, but we've come a long way from what it was when TWA was here. and the renovation continues. Their still working on the roof, and as of yesterday, are replacing five massive hanger ceiling heating units with new. Floors are still being painted, and some of our old shop areas are being redone as I'm writing. Yes, this is all being done with City money. Another plus! But if they're just going to shut this place down, why bother? And the biggest thing is their getting all the space for almost nothing!--------And whatever they bring in here, it gets done!!!------- Oh, I feel we'll loose some people, but I'd really be surprised if they shut us down! And as for the Aircraft (AA) they bring in here to be worked, they fly it in as a revenue flight. Out the same way.

UAL informs 1,100 mechanics at the Indianapolis Maintenance Center that they will be placed on "temporary unpaid leave" effective March 24. The company cites a "force majuere" contract clause due to the war in Iraq. This allows the company to avoid paying traditional furlough benefits including severance pay, bumping rights, and moving expenses.
That was AA pissing away AA money, in this situation it's AA pissing away someone elses money.Don't think that because few bucks is being spent on the hangar that nothing bad can happen. It was about 20 years ago that AA spent HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars building hubs in BNA and RDU....Then a few years later pulled out of those two hubs leaving a few people..
