Hey Buck, did you read the article in today's Tulsa World by c/c Kenny Warren from Dock 4D?
He sounds like a crewvisor who has not looked at the track record of Corporate America.
The bean counters run the airline and if MRO's can do the work cheaper it will not make any difference how efficient we become at TUL M&E.

If we AMT's at TUL accept wages and benefits that match MRO'S then we can compete with them, otherwise the bean counters will demand that the work be sent to MRO's.
The reality is simple math and ALL the numbers have to match MRO's to keep the work at TUL M&E.

I know Ken Warren and I will keep most of my comments to myself. However he has become one of the many while being active in attempting find a solution has begun to use fear as a tool to acheive the companies goal. After twenty years of concessionairy contracts the the TWU, it is no wonder that the company will come to them again for the "needed" concessions.

Unless Ken Warren has changed, he is not a fan of the TWU, but he did state that you can blame the union or the company, or just attempt to fix it ourselves.

If the mechanics want Southwest's contract, AA management would give it to you.

The intent of my post was to obtain a current industry payscale for the mechanics.

There is NOT a current industry pay scale because it is going down as I type this. It will probably level off when the flying public finds out that the cause of the next aviation disaster was a non-licensed foreign goober from South or Central America. THERE IS NO INDUSTRY PAYSCALE RIGHT NOW!

Much more than we do. Go to Love Field and see for yourself. New hangar going up and more work coming in. The latest outsourcing numbers show a continual decline in outsourcing at SWA and a rise in AA's numbers, go figure.

Maybe SWA can do some maintenance for UAL, Alaska and NWA.

From guys that are leaving Delta we hear most MROs are in the $16-$20 range is you are employed directly by the MRO. A lot of jobs are through contract outfits like SMART or Planetechs. The tendto pay a very low wage with a hefty per diem.

Right now top out at DL is $5178 a month. That is hangar with A&P, days. Rumor has it after the current round of RIF they are going to try to ram the Technician Helper positions down our throughts. Top out for a helper is $3722 a month. Of course it wouldn't hit the topped out guys but it could hit the under 6 year guys. Either take the helper slot or hit the street is the word.

Thanks for your input and the Technical helper positions sounds a lot like AA/TWU's SRP position.
