What medical coverage plan(s) did HP have before and after the merger?
It depends on which work group you are in and even in some instances, which location you work in.Does anyone at HP know what kind of medical coverage(s) you have?
Well lets see , you do live in a free country, maybe you need to look at what You would rather settle for or perhaps transition to yourself. There should be a Summary Plan Description" for HP employees. Their coverage is not a system wide PPO. I believe it is a combination of HMOs, Indeminity plan and each labor group may have a different plan (as we did before Concession #1 in 2002).
I am sure THEIR West employees will NOT be happy with what we have on the EAST, premium rates, coverage, deductables. The Co-pays, deductables and employee % contribution went up for all of labor on the East. 2006 was to be the biggest jump with no increases in wages for the employees on the East to absorb this huge hike. When the PPO was forced down our throats during concession #1, we had "snap backs" coming in wages every year, and that was to help with the increase in medical premium employee contributions that were going to go up every single year. HOWEVER, since concession #1, all of labor has gone through 2 BK and 3 concessions hence, and there are no wages to absorb these increases from the changes in our Medical plan that was induced in 2002. So, with pension dumping, major increases in medical costs to the employee, no wage increases to absorb this and provisions in the contract that Labor must go into discussions regarding medical premiums by the end of 2008, will be a struggle for most of labor on the East and possibly on the West, if the West is forced to take the East "plan".
The PPO plan on the East "out of pocket" expenses are huge commencing Jan. 2006.
How the West labor groups handle this in their "transition negotiations" will be interesting.

Sorry, I work PT and although eligible for healthcare for myself, I decided to give myself a raise and drop it. Fortunately. I have healthcare through my spouse but it was nice to have the additional coverage. Too bad they kept passing costs to employee with no raises. When I was full time we had Mayo healthcare and it was reasonable. Then the United healthcare and costs going way it, not worth it for me. Lets hope the future brings better Health Insurance with better coverage for less. Sorry, I know this is not helpful.Does anyone at HP know what kind of medical coverage(s) you have?
Jen,
Don't understand your statement above. What do you mean by "transition to yourself"???
Jen,
Let's just hope the CEO doesn't drop the gallot on your present health care coverage to capture more cost savings for the company and himself. Trust, you don't want the East coast PPO crap.
Hope you get to keep your enthusiasm, butI have a hunch the West folks are going to get an ear full from the management on COST savings and force the East insurance down your throats.
we have united health care what do you guys have? 🙂What medical coverage plan(s) did HP have before and after the merger?

You and all Us/Iam members need to realize,we have no bankruptcy/concessionary issues,We all deserve more pay, in your members case to get closer to what you had prior to any concessions without waiting...HOW MANY YEARS with your current representation ??? Opposed to what is right here now, opportunity to have a REAL election, and I KNOW with Our present Leadership w/TWU,they would stand up for all of us, even to the Company to do right by ALL of us! Would it really be that bad to keep what you are making now until negotiations could wrap up, and THEY ARE shooting for stars... compared to the long bitter wait Iam members are stuck with for years to come, They would stop at nothing less than better than what you currently are earning. Not to mention so many more benefits. We also have some in stations a cost of living increase.Jen,
