Midatlantic Today

The E170 is also a brand new aircraft with only 1-2 other operators in the world. That being said, I did "book away" from MAA for a future trip to ATL ... the on-time percentage of PIT-ATL showed as 30 percent, so I booked thru CLT instead.
You hit the Nail on the head here. Anyone that can, will book away from the
" Delay Machine". Sad to say, this could be on the competition in some cases.
There may have been problems with the F-100, but we didn't have the entire fleet made up of them. Well maybe after a year or two, they will have things running smooth. I know that if I went to a Diner and the food was bad, that I would come back for the next 2 years until they got it right!!!!!

Yeah, whatever, for every sob story you can come up with, i can tell of many passengers that LOVE the new planes.

I have recommended the EMB-170 out of ATL to friends, and they thought it was a far more comforatable and nicer aircraft than the 737, and even the airbuses, He is a DAL Freq Flier and said there is no comparison betewwen any CRJ model and our new Jet...

look, it has been said before, match growing pains to a brand new operation , and u are going to have a tough time being perfect. But give MDA a chance, and give it your sincire support (as u should being as it IS part of YOUR company), then u will see it develop into a great operation.

Afterall, you are talking about something that has only been around for a short while, using brand new planes no one else has used yet...

Midatlantic will fufill it's promise, and be one of the keys to the real turnaround of US Airways...

Rico, I am convinced that you must be in MDA Management or involved with them in some way. Defeneding something that is not up to par is beyond my understanding. You must be looking at the operation with blinders on or something. If any of these FACTS about MDA were faulse, I could see your point.
Please since you are such a Cheerleader for MDA, show us some of thier operating stats.

I've heard people rave about the airplane, customers and crews alike. I also think the addition of this type to the fleet is the most promising thing US has done (not the contracts or Express branding, but the plane itself). Does that make me management? 🙄 If so, I'm waiting for my paycheck.

can someone explain to me why it takes a emb-170 almost one hr to fly from phl to abe when it takes a DASH-8 to do the same trip in only 15 minutes? i would think that the emb is able to use the short runway like the dash--17-35 i think

🙄 Its all because of the funny cane that opens the door and the fact that its flying into a mainline express station.

From a customer standpoint, the EMB is a VERY nice ride once it gets airborne. Both times I flew it, we took a delay. Not huge but a delay.

Both times they had to reboot the computer systems to get everything to come up and work properly. I wondered to myself if the thing had a Microsoft Window Operating System given the fact that I watched the poor women pilot take the plane dark 3 times before everything rebooted and we boarded. I felt bad for her as I watched through the window, even from that distance you could see her frustration.
That's a typical Embraer product. When we first received the 145's in the winter of 2000 we took many needless delays. It took us two years at least to become comfortable to the Embraer random EICAS 'fault'...I only call it that, because a spurious signal from some sensor would trigger an EICAS message that would sometimes clear in a few seconds and sometimes not depending on the sensor's location and importance. We don't get many of those anymore.

Why? One reason is that we now run EICAS revision 17.B...or something to that effect. That's right, I said SEVENTEEN EICAS revisions so far on this puppy.

You have a long road to go, friends....but it does get better.

Yeah, I am Bruce A.

No, I am a Allegheny Captain, that is awaiting a july class date for a EMB-170 position at MDA.

No, I don ot have operating stats for MDA, but then again, neither do you, so enough with the biased crap about "subpar" operation, because you have no vaild basis to slander the hard work of those at MDA other than the occasional misfortune that you happen to witness at whatever job you happen to hold.

Yoou do not like MDA, but that is because you see it as a threat to you, not because they underperforming. So Let's just agree to disagree, because MDA is here to stay.

I will join the rest of MDA, ALL of whom are furloughed Mainline workers, and I will work as hard as I can to make MDA as good as possible, because that is what I am here for, not not #### and moan.

I've taken the EMB-170 and thought it was great.
is the emb 170 a lot quieter than the erj 145 even if you sit around the wings/engines area in the cabin?

Only a lighter note: I heard in CLT today that the PIT counters are calling it the EMB-180's!!!
Because everytime it leaves the gate it seems to do a 1-80 and come back to the gate..... Thought it was funny.....
