While we are on the topic of the NYC area, let's not forget the pulldown of the EWR operation back in the early 1990's. From the mid 80's until a few years after the PI/US merger, EWR had lots of Mainline flights with many of them being point to point bypassing the Hubs. I know that local boardings were in the area of 150k per month, and somehow US squandered that operation away. At this point we have 12-15 Mainline flights per day consisting of CLT & PHX only.
There was a lot of speculation that US made a deal with CO to get their new LGA terminal in exchange for a pulldown of the EWR operation that went head to head with CO. Now here we are 17 years later pulling the plug on LGA. As posted above, the NYC area is one of the most heavily populated areas in the country, and US can't find a way to capture a piece of that pie. Very sad, and even more pathetic...

Do you feel Parker and Kirby are making all the right decisions? Do you look at them as leaders or 2 clowns? Im sure you dont respect them and there decisions and Im sure the Investors and Board of Directors feel the same way. Our customer service is horrible and I feel the customers that experience US for the first time never come back .We have no IFE on our planes, we tried selling soda , they piss off our workers everyday with the decisions they make, we tried merging with Delta and that pissed everyone off,we run from Southwest anytime they come into one of the airports we operate out of ,we shrank JFK and now were trying to shrink LGA. NY has a population of 9 million people alot of O&D. American, Jetblue and Delta and Continental can make $$$ and we cant because we dont try.How in the world are we shrinking NY the Gateway to this country. Parker and Kirby are sinking this airline because we dont try to compete and conquer(Maybe hes never heard of David and Goliath) . Parker and Kirby pssy out and run scared when something doesnt make money , they just cut it rather than work harder and try to solve the puzzle. They want all of us to work hard and help the company save $$$ but what are they doing? Are they trying to put this company together or are they slowly dismantling it? Do u think I will win the Powerball now that I got all of this off my chest or do you feel if Parker and Kirby dont make US Airways $$$ soon they will both get the boot before the company files chapter 11 which can be soon if this clowning around continues? These guys make no effort to improve customer service. The customer pays US and the customer is always

right. We need a powerful leader that we can all stand behind and fight for. Instaed we got

clownsrunning a billion dollar company that get laughed at.

I'm so sorry you do all of this as a hobby. You still get a paycheck..don't you? In this economy you are lucky...or don't you read the news

Ya know, it certainly is nice to know you have a job with some sort of income in an environment like this BUT that doesn't mean you have to accept and agree with all that your management does. The former US and HP employees that now make up this joke of a merged airline have PLENTY and I do mean PLENTY to be pissed off about.
Are the majority of employees happy to be employed? Sure

Do the majority of employees stand behind decisions made by this leadership ehhh excuse me "management" team? Can you hear me over the roar of NOOOOOOOOO's? 🙄

and I want to continue getting a paycheck for the next 20 years..I want US to do good ..This is my future..But I want to be behind a leader that gets respect in good and bad decisions. I want a leader that puts effort into his own company rather than look for the easy way out by looking for mergers. Just listen to Continentals slogan it makes alot of sense "Work Hard Fly Right"I feel like the Parker and Kirby duo are just not cutting it. All Im saying is US BOD's should be shopping around for a new CEO. Its always good to shop you never know when you get something good at a bargain. The company not utilizing NY to its fullest is a big mistake because when the economy snaps back we wont be there to make the $$$$.

Well the big news is finally out, I will let somebody else post the details, it's all on the HUB, small article on usairways.com

God knows I'm one to voice my displeasure with management when they do something insane but this seems to be a great deal. I'm sure there will be bugs to work out but overall I think it is great news. I feel bad for the 300 or so Piedmont employees though. Maybe they will be offered positions with the new 100 being created in DCA and new outlying stations. I think this is fantastic news and hardly what anyone predicted AT ALL.

Well, well, well another flight that is over 12 hours with inadequate rest facilities for flight attendants. Management has threatened to pull TLV if they lose the arbitration which is a joke/bluff in itself. Let me guess that in 2012 the company plans on giving f/a's the current passenger seat as crew rest to Japan on the A330-200?

I agree with the statement that Piedmont is seeing many positions in LGA disapear, but is Piedmont really loosing or is it the plan to gain in the future? What i find so interesting is how the majority of individuals posting "appear" to be on the east coast, expressing displeasure with a company that prior to D & S, the rank and file had everyting they wanted ( no need to worry about fiscal responsibility, the company is paying for it) ... opps lets not forget those ugly bankruptcies... lets blame them on someone else, because we can't be held accountable attitude. I thought that if it affects a wholy owned subsidary it affects the parent company.
The age of entitlement is over folks... you missed your opportunity so quit blaming others.

As a student of politics and economics, I find it very interesting to see when a Fortune 500 company begins to place pieces on a chess board for a future position, that the feeling of " Entitlement" rises its ugly head and the finger pointing begins. The questions and speculations begin, and the "un-informed" quickly become the voice of the majority. Instead of having a solution, the voice tells us what is wrong, who is at fault, and we buy it as gospel. We don't want to look at the past now do we, for that would mean being accountable ( rearing its ugly head again, sorry) and that has never been required of anyone has it? I sincerly believe that for the Airline industry to survive there must be consolidations and with those consolidations there will be those that loose their jobs, for that is first a sign of the times and a very regretable reality of today's world.
