We believe, in light of current circumstances, that major steps must immediately be taken to prevent loss of future customers. These actions include, but are not limited to;

1. Immediate termination of individuals who did not adequately fulfill their work responsibilities this past week.

2. Immediate termination of Operations management beginning at the Senior Level that did not properly prepare for the possibility of staffing inconsistencies.

3. Immediate informational and marketing campaign to reassure customers of the steps being taken to prevent another episode of staffing shortages.

4. Long term creation of a "transparent" process in all dealings among customers, management, and employees.

5. Immediate re-evaluation of the current business model that increasingly relies on PHL for customer travel.

6. We call on Mr. Lakefield to "Take Charge" and use his considerable leadership and management skills to agressively pursue the changes that need to be made at US Airways both financial and cultural.

We remain available to work with all parties in an effort to address the challenges the company faces; to enable US Airways to remain a viable, active business."

Piney is a man full of himself starved to be loved reaching to anyone who will listen to his lonely soul. People like you who really believe his snake oil crap, he just loves. I suggest you give him a hug to get some in return.

I am your nightmare.

What I am saying is true...I don't hate bobby boy. I think of him as child...read one of his many posts and you will find a lonely man seeking companionship via the internet giving his self perceived wisdom he only wishes he had.

I know who I am, do you?

That was a freebie

Curt: full of God given common sense which lacks in many, especially on these boards of many bleeding heart fools.

you are your nightmare.

now get back on topic

I don't know how the ffocus people can be so arrogant and pompous to advocate the firing of ANYONE...irregardless of what happened. That really is pretty obnoxious.

good point, good word... obnoxious

but what happened to usairways psgrs was obnoxious

those that had to wait hours to get to a phl gate

those that were without luggage

etc etc etc

the situation is obnoxious

The devil went down to Georgia
He was lookin' for a soul to steal
He was in a bind 'cause he was way behind
And he was willing to make a deal
When he came across this young man
Sawing on a fiddle and playing it hot
And the devil jumped up on a hickory stump
And said, "Boy let me tell you what"

"I guess you didn't know it
But I'm a fiddle player too
And if you'd care to take a dare
I'll make a bet with you
Now you play pretty good fiddle, boy
But give the devil his due
I bet a fiddle of gold against your soul
'Cause I think I'm better than you"

The boy said "My name's Johnny
And it might be a sin
But I'll take your bet and you're gonna regret
'Cause I'm the best that's ever been"

Johnny you rosin up your bow
And play your fiddle hard
'Cause Hell's broke loose in Georgia
And the devil deals the cards

And if you win
You get this shiny fiddle made of gold
But if you lose
The devil gets your soul

The devil opened up his case
And he said, "I'll start this show"
And fire flew from his fingertips
As he rosined up his bow
And he pulled the bow across the strings
And it made an evil hiss
Then a band of demons joined in
And it sounded something like this

When the devil finished Johnny said
"Well you're pretty good, old son
But sit down in that chair right there
And let me show you how its done"

Fire on the mountain, run boys run
The devil's in the house of the rising sun
Chicken in the bread pan pickin' out dough
Granny does your dog bite, no child no

The devil bowed his head
Because he knew that he'd been beat
And he laid that golden fiddle
On the ground at Johnny's feet
Johnny said "Devil, just come on back
If you ever want to try again
But I told you once, you son of a ####
I'm the best that's ever been"

He played...

I don't know what the exact number were, but just 80 rampers in PHL calling in sick did not cause the 10,000 bags to be seperated from their owners. If the 80 was split split between a morining and evening shift, that would mean just 40 were sick on each shift. I do not know the staffing numbers, but there has to be about 250 rampers per shift. And if they catering people were pulled to cover, there weren't really that many open spots. Just my thoughts as I try to figure this one out..........
BUT, for the FFOCUS group to call for everyone to be fired who didn't show up for work is beyond extreme. Every person need to be dealt with as an individual. You cannot create a blanket policy to cover all. The FFOCUS group is supposed to be thinkers and creators for new ways of doing business. It looks like they just went back to the stone ages. Just my thoughts.........

I don't mean any disrespect to USAirways employees by saying this, but USAirways has become a C-rate legacy carrier over the course of the past few years. Their product (particularly in First Class) has become sub-standard. Furthermore, their primary international gateway, Philadelphia, is delay-prone and a user-unfriendly airport/terminal in which to make connections. Add to that a demoralized work force that has endured 3 rounds of pay and benefit cuts and who (understandably) possess a collective anger toward their management. All of these factors have culminated into USAirways becoming an inferior airline with inferior service. I don't mean to sound smug, but wouldn't FFOCUS' time and energy be better spent just choosing another airline that offers better amenities, better product, and better facilities in which to make connections? From a consumer standpoint, USAir's overall product has become uncompetitive and doesn't seem to me to be a good value. As a consumer, I want the most value for my money. It just makes me wonder why so many so-called frequent fliers are willing to choose USAirways with their consumer dollar. Please enlighten me.

JAMAKE1, they see what you don't: good people. If it was as horrible as you say it is then why would these people care? Simply put, yeah, what is happening this week is pretty pathetic. Still, this isn't what the airline is about the other 355 days of the year. I agree, PHL is the big thorn in the side of this company. It's always been a mess and getting messier. Look, I am biased, I live near PIT a gorgeous facility that is a pleasure to use. Still, management is going after bodies to fill planes and they think they can put more on in PHL than any other hub. If management is serious about making this airline more user friendly they need to reconsider using PIT for more connections; if they don't you're right the airline is doomed.
