Negotiations update?

116,480 dollars from May 01, 2003 - May 01, 2011
That would be the magic number each title one mechanic has given to this company.
Congratulations !
I love the fact that this number is twice our base pay. So we actually worked two years for free.
multiply that number by the ten thousand title one guys on the payroll and then you can really throw up
1.16 BILLION
Hows that working out for ya
And they want more

More like 250,000.00 and counting !!!

How can you get in trouble for working to rule? The company establishes the rule. If the rule alloted times are "slow" it isn't the workers fault.

But, I would have the manual right next to you for verification. Any deviation and you're screwed.

If, in fact, you ARE working to the "T" in the manual(most won't cause it's too slow, hassle-loaded, we know the "short cuts"), you're right, there's isn't much they can do to you.
But, if you're claiming to do so, and really aren't, management WILL start with the 10 questions, hassling and office sit-downs asking for an explanation as to why you're doing this when others are not. "You trying to make a point here...??" and here ya go.

Anybody in this business that's been through contract negotiations(ugly ones), knows exactly what I'm talking about here.
There's always some Supervisor out there willing to "the horse how to eat the cabbage"-so to speak...trust me.
Most Supervisors have a problem with a lot of mechanics to some extent anyway...they can get real steamed over this stuff.

Ok guys say it with me AOI Do Not Call, AOI Do Not call?

Bob,

Heard a couple of rumors today, first their was a meeting with Ream and the M&E leadership in Dallas a few weeks ago, and it was said that they expect a TA this Spring. Second, the next negotiating session is going to be a Super session to come up with a TA.
Lastly this article was in the Star Telegram..

APFA tells members that NMB was "receptive"
After a Tuesday meeting with the National Mediation Board, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants president Laura Glading told members that the board members were "receptive and engaged."

Maybe the company wants to settle before Q1 numbers come out?

Lets review.............Who wants you to work by the book??? 😱
American Airlines, they repeat it everywhere in almost every single publication!!
The FAA demands it as proven with the MD80 grounding.
The NTSB
Our pilots!! B)
Our flight attendants!! 😛
Your union 😉
Your International???? 😱 😱 😀
Most Importantly our passengers. They would rather get there late than be unsafe.
Every one at our airline and industry wants us to work by the book!!! Verbatum!! No deviation!! To the letter!
I believe even our mediator expects us to! This is obvious by the speed of our mediation process...........Yes 3 years now!!! 🙄
If we worked as efficiently as our mediator this industry would come to a skidding hault!!
One week a month and three years later after the rape on 2003! Your tax dollars at work!
Goverment worker is as big of a lie as a smart blonde or a promise that i wont &^$ in your mouth!!!
So why in the hell must we repeat it over and over?? work by the book!!" No deviation" "SAFETY FIRST!!!"

"Receptive and engaged" is just business-speak for nothing happened. Receptive means that they smiled during Glading's presentation instead of the usual sneer reserved for unions. Engaged means they at least appeared to be listening while Glading was speaking instead of yawning and doodling on their note pad or texting on their Blackberry.

Boy Rogallo it always amazes me the level of intelligence of some AMT's. I personally have I have never understood the I got mine attitude or the well you can all move to T-Town but it seems there are ignorant sheep still and seems will always be at AA. Now I don't know if you are a AMP supporter (reference your picture) and I do hope that if they come in they could do better but it will definitely mean no contract for alot longer. Now does that mean I am a TWU suck absolutely not but I do need a raise as we all do and know this the company loves our infighting and counts on it to divide and conquer in negotiations. So as always it seems that most of us are stuck with the results of the AMT's who do not realize their own self worth and would be happy with any crumbs AA throws us just to save there "I got mine attitude".

Maybe the company wants to settle before Q1 numbers come out?

If there was a snowball's chance that the Q1 numbers might show a profit, that would make sense, maybe.

But with the lousy weather so far plus the typical Q1 weakness, the chance of a profitable first quarter for AA might be one in a billion this year. I doubt there's a rush to get a TA prior to AA's announcement that it lost $200 million (my prediction for Q1).

Nothing strengthens your "we need a cost-neutral contract" position so much as a losing quarter. Because then you have the argument that "we are losing money even at the RPA reduced rates. If it weren't for the goodness of our hearts, we should be asking for further concessions."

The previous T/A was a concessionary deal!

It was also a craft/profession killer. Had it been voted in it would have spread through the industry like cancer and the twu would have been to blame and those who voted YES. Fortunately enough the membership saw the t/a for what it was while the twu now looks for a window to crawl out of after they painted themselves into a corner after having endorsed it.

What is the membership waiting for? The twu to bring back another concessionary contract? More empty slogans? As long as the international has a hand in the negotiation process the membership will be harmed. It might not be YOU this time but eventually a contract will effect YOU. The opportunity to have a true democratic process that directly effects your profession is NOW. Sign an AMP Authorization card.
