And the Feds have bulit levees. There are those that have stated that the current administration has removed funding for these levees?
With those states affected and overwhelmed, the government is responding. If you can do the job better than why have you not left for the effected area? No one really cares what you expect.
The water is flowing from the firehoses, the military is establishing order, people are being rescued and food and water is being distributed and electricity is being restored, thanks to the government that you despise so much.
In your view, we should raise taxes to generate handouts to the states. Your socialistic ideas are for declared Socialist countries - Cuba for example - I will pay for your passage if you would like to move there.

The fact is that the Federal Government takes in huge sums of money from the American people and compared to Europe (most of which is Socialist -Cuba is more Marxist) they get very little for their money. As Bush has slashed funding for things that benifit the people of this country, Levees being one of them, in order to fund tax breaks for the oil companies, that are gouging the American Public by drastically raising Gas prices-up to $3.99/gal, he has left this country vulnerable.
Is Bush to blame for Katrina? No. Is he responsible for the lack of response? Yes. As Truman had on his desk "The buck stops here".
We pay more for our military than any other nation. However that investment has not been used to benifit the American people. The American people want Osama Bin Laden caught, they expect the resources of that heavily funded military to be used to retore order and rescue people in the event of natural disasters also. However their investment has instead been used to satisfy the personal ambitions of a small group of greedy people who sought to gain control of the second largest known oil reserves in the world.
So Four years later we have a few thousand troops. less than the number of police officers in NYC trying to hunt down Bin Laden in a rigged country the size of Texas and we have thousands stranded, some dying, because we lack the resources to save them.
In the meantime we have many thousands of troops and Billions of dollars worth of equipement running around Iraq simply because Bush wanted to oust Saddam Hussain, a despot in a world of despots whose only distingushing traits are that he sits atop a lot of oil and supposedly he tried to have the current Bush's father killed.
Natural disasters are just as much in the realm of the fed as an attack upon our shores from a human invader. Just as aid came to New York after 9-11 the country should aid those devastated by this storm that knew no borders. President Bushed pushed through policies that limited the ability to respond to a disaster on the home front. He squandered our resources, leading to the current disaster unfolding in the south and Osama still runs free. The man responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians still runs free but the man who tried to kill his daddy, after his daddy tried to kill him, has been captured.
As per President Bush the thousands who died on 9-11 will have to wait even longer for justice. I guess he figures he had to wait for years to get Saddam so those who lost loves ones should be willing to wait as long for Bin Laden.
The thousands suffering in the South are on their own because the money of the American People is, in his eyes, better spent killing in Iraq than protecting the American people here at home. His buddies who were cashing in on Iraq and now Katrina has produced an additional windfall here at home as the disposable income of the nation is being sucked up by the largest increase in oil prices ever.
If regular people did what the oil companies are doing as the result of a natural disaster they would be put in prison. This wont happen because of the close ties Bush and his administration have with the oil industry.
Bush likened airline workers to terrorist holding the "hard working" people of America hostage in order to get higher wages and he used his Presidential powers to stop us from witholding our labor but he sits by as oil companies pick the pockets of every citizen in the country.
The fact is the man has done tremendous damage to this country. It is in times like these when that damage becomes apparent. There is no way in a wealthy country where the leaders claim to adhere to Christian values that such suffering, even if the victim bears some responsiblity, should exist. We paid for the resources to mitigate such suffering, but Bush chose to use them to satisfy his own personal ambitions.
