New Card Drive Started @ AA--Mechanic and Related

What kind of dues nonsense is AMFA pulling at Sun Country???? "Voluntary" dues with no representation in order to avoid an initiation fee at a later date? Are these people kidding?
"In the next few weeks, you will be receiving a New Member package containing an Application for Membership and a Dues Check-off Form, which will permit you to be a member in good standing, attend union meetings, vote on contract and letter of agreement ratification, and vote for Local and National officers and representatives. Until a CBA is ratified between AMFA and SCA, your AMFA Initiation Fee will be waved when you pay voluntary membership dues. Your dues will be initially used to support your elected local SCA representatives and negotiating your CBA."

This is because AMFA does not and didn’t tell these people when they asked to represent them that they don’t have enough money in any general fund to support what it costs to try and negotiate their first contract. So they have to go against the norm which is not collecting dues until they have their first contract to going around with their hands out trying to collect cash in a hat.

Seeham is not going to front the money to negotiate for them on any promissory notes. Those Lawyers demand to be paid. So what’s going to happen is they will get sub par representation and a chitty first contract that will have tons of holes in their Scope.

Mark my words it’s guaranteed.

Maybe if they didn’t work their day jobs they’d actually have the time to spend on their membership and deliver something? 19 years at SWA and they’re still trying to blame the Teamsters for their lack of being able to add jobs. Incompetence doesn’t win prizes.
You win a booby prize every time you post.

So let's go back to the beginning. That is usually where the roots are planted.
Michael J Quill was associated to the communist party when he founded the TWU. It took 12 years until he broke away. In those 12 years how much of his communists beliefs still exist as a foundation of the TWU? Argue all you want but you can't change the past history of the founder of the TWU.

If you focus more on past politics than you do on your paycheck then you’re not focused in the right direction. But if you need to know the TWU proudly honors it’s founder Mike Quill in the highest regard. You’ll get no argument from me.

INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT JOHN SAMUELSEN

TWU International President John Samuelsen represents over 150,000 members across the airline, railroad, transit, universities, utilities, and services sectors. Samuelsen was sworn in as TWU’s 10th International President on May 1, 2017. He is also the former President of TWU Local 100 in New York City – the union’s largest local.

A Brooklyn native, Samuelsen was hired by the New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) in 1993 and was assigned to a track gang in Brooklyn, where he and his fellow union members worked under difficult and unsafe conditions. Managers ignored safety regulations, disciplined workers who spoke up, and had no respect for the workers or their union. While still in his probationary period, Samuelsen’s co-workers elected him shop steward , and he fought vigorously for a safer subway workplace.

From 2001 to 2006, Samuelsen served as chair of the Track Safety Committee and chair of the Track Division. From 2002–2005 he was Acting Vice President of the Maintenance of Way Department, representing 7,100 workers providing essential services to NYCTA in Track, Line Equipment and Signals, Power and Structure. During that time, he also served as lead negotiator for all safety-related issues during contract bargaining between Local 100 and NYCTA, and authored the Comprehensive Track Safety Bill passed by the New York State Legislature.

He was elected President of Local 100 in December 2009 and was reelected overwhelmingly in 2012 and 2015. He served as Local 100 president until September 26, 2017.

He still maintains an active public role in New York politics and advocates on behalf of all TWU members.

During Samuelsen’s time as President, the TWU has been focused on new worker organizing and grown the union by 15,000 members in over 20 successful organizing drives. The TWU is currently leading the charge in fighting against offshoring the maintenance of U.S. passenger aircraft to foreign countries and defending jobs against displacement through automation in the transit industry.

I'm glad you're back. I wish Rich B. would chime in.
