No accountability, little oversight, make an appearance and get off. Not all the cleaners worked like this, but with all the companies (including our own) there are enough like this to make an issue of it.
Why dont they still use the overnight cleaning sign off sheet? The cleaner(s) who cleaned the plane had to sign off they did all the items on the checklist and then the crew in the am recorded whether it was done and what items appeared to need attention. They were turned in to the manager and he could take action if needed. Maybe its time to drag out the old forms?
Also, if the cleaners have to be called back again and again, maybe they need a turn cleaning check sheet. The cleaners would have to get the A (or designated) to sign off on the plane before they left. If the blankets arent done or the bathroom trash isnt empty or supplied, they dont get signed off. The A would get a copy as would the cleaner and it could be turned in at base or set up for a local prcedure to get to the manager and reconciled if needed. If there were any problems the FA could make notes on the report before giving it to the cleaners and after so many reports of the same thing, action could be taken since there would be a written report of it. This way it isnt "lost" by the cleaner or added to after the fact by the FA. Check and balance and some accountability.
