Ok, only because I'm sitting on reserve and bored out of my mind. The new manual is 9.5"W x 9.5"L and 3.5" thick. It is definately bigger than the old one. Did I just sit there and actually measure this suitcase called a manual?

Yes..it's huge. Hopefully we dont have to do the policy and procedure thing like the WEST does. I dought it. I dont even know what ever happened to my p&p manual. I lost it in all the moves I have done since 2003 layoff.

I think I still have my first manual around somewhere. It’s about 3/4â€￾ thick softcover book with a lot of doodles from new hire training on it.

We are all getting new manual binders east and west. I hate to hear that they are too big. I was excited after seeing the pictures and that they zip closed.

The only nice thing about them is the zipper. Drop it and it won't explode. BUT THEY ARE HUGE! My binder does not fit in my gadget at all. It's in my suitcase. A friend sent askinflight a note about how are we supposed to carry these without violating the FAA "readily accessable" rule.

The Binder does not fit in my gadget is actually what the east calls a day bag or tote.... GADGET = TOTE (DAY BAG-or small tote)

If you read the tiny print on the last page of your manual it reads "In case of an attack - hold handle securely in one hand and swing at attacker while screaming for help!!"

Seriously, what (in general terms) are in these manuals and what if any is the reasoning for having them with you??

Basically a personal copy of the FAR's and company policy. I went and picked mine up a couple of days ago and I have to say I love it. Great job to whomever picked these out. Much more durable than what we've had in the past and I love the fact it zips up. Yes, it's a little bigger but it has more room for forms. I know not all will agree, but thanks for the new manual covers!

Its not mandatory and you can return it if you prefer the red soft canvas. I'm thinking if the hard inner plastic can be removed it would be perfect. Just like the soft canvas with a zipper and handle. I'm going to try and remove it...we shall see.

Its basically our required bible of all we need to know about our job. The manual has all info we need to prep a cabin in the event of an emergency. Many don't realize this, but we would actually read from the manual as a way to stay focused at a very stressful moment.
