What's new

NEW ROUTE IN APRIL

HP will also be running another LAS-PHL daily. I am not sure if it will replace a US flight or be an additional flight overall. Also HP is supposed to do PHL-SEA.

nice to finally see the company combining stuff.

Yeah, it's nice to see routes being combined. I've heard that US East has slowly adopted and combined some of the HP stuff such as:

1. Boarding Video (Adopted from HP)
2. Level Off Video and Trivia (Adopted from HP)

Some of the stuff that I've seen here in the west.

1. New Video System (Adopted from East)

Now....I heard that you guys don't do an inflight briefing in the crew rooms, you do your briefings on the plane with the pilots?

Here in the west, we get 2 types of briefings. (Inflight and Pilot)

In the crew room, we introduce ourselves, we go over new emergency procedures and evacuations, on board products, new policies and procedures, current security info, new IOM revisions and other must read memos.

Then on the plane, we get briefed by the pilots by their stuff.

The PHL-SEA flight that HP is to do, is it in addition to what US-east serves already or a transfer to US-west to fly? just curious.

It would be interesting to see what the pairings are going to look like. Instead of going back to phoenix or las vegas, we're going to start seeing Seattle or whatever.

I am new to this board so bear with me. I had heard that MIA is looking at or in talks with a LCC who was having trouble in FLL, to bring them into MIA. Supposedly there is a new terminal being built there, that could house what was trying to be done in FLL, and could possibly make Central and South America expansion a possibility.

THis is just a rumor I heard, but wanted to know if anyone had some news that may add some validity to it.

THanks

A bit early for me to start drinking and get the rumor confirmed for you, but give me a few hours and several cocktails and i will let you know what i heard 🙂🙂🙂🙂

This much is fact - the new concourse that's been under construction for a while now is slated to open this year - spring or summer I think.

As for the rest.....

hey guys i e-mailed mark heinland on this issue. he is in charge of recieving questions and suggestions at merger@usairways.com. this was his response
Dear ######,
This is true. HP will discontinue service in both of these markets 01APR06 while and EAST aircraft will begin flying on 02APR06. As part of the synergy plan, HP needed to reduce some level of flying due to the current aircraft decommission plan for 2006. We effectively removed this flying but were able to reinstate some service by using US aircraft that would have been otherwise sitting on the ground all night to fly to/from LAS. MIA and RDU to LAS are two examples of this change.

Thanks,

Mark

Yes, there's indeed a brand new, quite fancy Star Alliance-only concourse opening up in MIA one of these days. And from what I've heard, US will be the first airline to move into it. (Sounds like United wants US to have all of the problems working out the kinks, then it'll move in when everything's taken care of.)

It's going to be much bigger than necessary, as UA had a big international MIA operation when they were planning the thing, but UA has since cut their operation there, and US also cut all their prop flying out of MIA (and the rest of Florida) when Piedmont and then Mesa/Air Midwest left. So there would indeed be plenty of room for expansion; I just can't see US doing it. I think it's more likely that the extra space will just be used to bring in some non-Star Alliance airlines that have partnerships with some of the Star airlines (like Bahamasair and US, for example).

No offense, but are you living under a rock or has the West side not been given the same info? We at East knew the changes were coming a month in advance. The HP stuff wasn't adopted, but integrated as we are technically one company and the "new" US Airways seems to be integrating the best of both. Fortunately for US East, most of the stuff IS from you guys out West because we had cut back to bare bones.

ARE you guys getting the same info? BTW, Love the boarding video and trivia. Finally something for our customers to do but look for the duct tape.

Now to get glassware back in East F/C.

We get the same info, but we don't know if those policies were from US East or from management of course. We still get the glasswares, but we don't know if they will eliminate them. I certainly hope not!

We heard we would keep the US East wings, but we will stay with having names on the aprons.

this is true. if any west f/a go through phl. be sure to pick up a set of wings from the crew room under B6 . just visit andrew in the office.

Just so you know, there is no US East management. All the decisions are being made from Tempe. And yes, lets keep glassware and bring it to East. We have enough glassware for 400 ac just sitting somewhere.

Glad to hear that we're keeping the US/East wings....they are actually pretty cool looking. I saw some AWA F/A's in the PHL Airport the other day and to be honest I could not even tell you what their wings looked like....they're uniforms are worse than the US/East side.....just seemed so busy, oh and women don't really look that good in men's ties, well at least on a uniform....what's up with that? Can hardly hold my breath to see what this new uniform is gonna look like! 😱
