On 1 Feb, new SABRE password standards were set; the length of allowable passwords was changed. What was not announced, but discovered by more than one user, is that certain words - - even acronyms - are now "unacceptable".
Not just George Carlin's "Seven Dirty Words" (some of them are too long anyway) but some words that most people would consider fairly mild..."salty" anyway.

Is this a Tempe thing? Were naughty words ever allowed in SHARES? (What does SHARES stand for, anyway)
Maybe I should ask over on AA page if there are "standards"
over on their SABRE partition.

Now I can just imagine SABRE users (those who read US Aviation at any rate) "trying" new passwords tomorrow! 😀

SHARES at one time was owned by Continental I guess EDS owns it now.

When Frank Lorenzo grabbed Eastern, they kept System One, and merged the best of both systems.

SHARES stands for SHared Airline Reservation Entry System

It's the same on the AA side as well. Funny I just thought it was AA that made the rule.

We all know how Bob Crandall had little tolerance for "salty language"!! 😛

It is interesting that passwords that had worked in US partition for years are now verboten, leading to the as yet unanswered question of if this is a Tempe thing.
