What's new

New ticket jackets (Nat'l Guard Verision)

Apparently you are a bunch of communists, socialists and liberalists.

Typical republican, G.W...you're either fer us or agein us BULLSHIIT!! Nobody can have an opinion. Talk of communist.

Geez, Marco, all everyone said was put the GD phone numbers, Star info, and logo on the freakin ticket jacket.

THAT kind of thoughtless, shoot from the mouth response is why the USA is in the HUGE MISTAKE OF A MESS in Iraqi. AND, might I just say that if you are a true American, you CAN support our troops (who have no choice) AND be APPAULD at the president and his deceptive step into this war. AND a TRUE American WOULD question the administration and the motives of this or any war whether you are liberal or conservative.

And LASTLY, Marco, I am a PROUD LIBERAL that is sick and tired of radical ignorant conservatives like you that demonize the left and wish to make America a theocrisy. I AM an American and happy to live here, but I do not feel that my patriotism should be questioned because I either question the govt or choose to not wrap myself in the red, white, and blue. OR force, BY THE GOVT, to make our children say the Pledge of Allegiance or pray in school. Talk of big govt interferring in our private lives.

You have insulted many of us with your entire post.

Granted phone numbers would be nice, but let's think about it for a few minutes.

Ticket jackets are given out where? At the airport. How many people are going to look through a ticket jacket, then place a phone call AT the airport to resolve a problem? I think almost any gate agent will tell you that they'd rather march up to the podium and vent in person.

So, then comes up the quesiton of future use. How many people would save these after they arrive at their destinate? Maybe the first time flyer as a memento, but is that going to generate a lot of future calls? It's similiar to my take on billboards for airlines on the way to the airport. What's the point? If you haven't already made a decision, it's probably too late. Now, leaving the airport, I can see - - invitations to return, try us next time, etc.

It's marketing 101. Have ALL of the necessary information about your business. Plain and Simple.

This is just another example of the piss poor quality control that is happening in the "new US".

Well, most people would probably like to speak to the agent at the podium, but when the crapola is hitting the fan during irregular ops and the line is 100+ people deep, it would be nice to have a phone number on the ticket jacket to call! It's not like it is plastered on the wall for people to see.

Kind of like having TV commercials for the company playing ON THE PLANE! Duh, if they haven't already made a decision to fly US Airways they wouldn't even be seeing them.

Well, here we are fighting a real war against terrorists and the most you can do is put down the solicitation for the Guard. It is a sad day. In the day when folks loved the USA, as a citizen, one would be proud that corporations supported the defense of the USA. Apparently you are a bunch of communists, socialists and liberalists. As I told a gentleman recently, and I use that term loosely as he put down this land, I will see his face as I shoot an insurgent in the head to defend his freedom, and I will wish it were him. Do not get me wrong, but to put down the Guard and all we stand for is absolutely ignorant. And you really should be fighting for the other side if that is what you believe. I give Us Airways credit, and certainly do not cae if they made dollars to print those jackets. We do, afterall, live in a Capitalistic Republic.

A real war? Who invaded whom? What was the connection between Iraq and 9/11? What would Jesus himself say about senselessly killing young Americans and Iraqi civillians for oil? What type of person thinks that there's something wrong with a differing opinion that is no longer allowed in this "free" country under your way of thinking?

Hey Heinrich

Did someone forget to tell you Jesus was a republican? I think it's somewhere in the Holy Book of Anne Coltrane.

Did anyone stop to think that maybe.....just maybe they DON'T want anyone to call them? Buy your ticket, get to the airport, get on the plane, sit down, shut up and no complaints while we get you from "point A to point B". That's pretty much what it's like anyway. Don't call us, we'll call you!!

Granted phone numbers would be nice, but let's think about it for a few minutes.

Well there is that little time frame between arriving and departing your destination (especially in Europe) where it would be nice to have them handy, just in case you needed to call to change or check on something. I dont carry a phone book around with me and I could stop at a phone booth (and hope it had a phone book still attached), but you know what the chances of that are.

AND if there is a cancellation, I have advised customers to call res ( i know, hola) while in line so if you get them first ...what am I thinking....ah hell, wait in line!

I thought the phone # was on the back of the boarding stub.
Am I mistaken?

anyone remember the usair universal studios cartoon character ticket jackets.....i hated giving those to business people....but at least they had phone numbers....i know we're low cost but do we have to be low class......just my 2cents worth
I loved those ticket jackets. They were great when you had screaming babies in line. Just give them one of those and they would quiet down.

OK, I'll bite. Are we at war with the whole world then? I am not aware of a country called Terrorist. Maybe I missed a change on the map. Oh, and by the way, was a declaration of war ever legally issued? You know, constitutionally?

It is a sad day. In the day when folks loved the USA, as a citizen, one would be proud that corporations supported the defense of the USA.

Does defense of the USA include corporations hiring people to work that are not citizens or otherwise in the USA by any recognized legal manner?

Communism and socialism are economic systems. A liberalist is political entity. You are mixing them up. Oh, if being a liberalist is defined as being opposed to the policies espoused by the current US Government, then I am guilty of being a liberalist.

As I told a gentleman recently, and I use that term loosely as he put down this land, I will see his face as I shoot an insurgent in the head to defend his freedom, and I will wish it were him.

Well, we all have our fantasies. Mine are less violent.

I fully support the men and women in uniform. It is the politicians, many of whom have never served, with whom I take issue.

I give Us Airways credit, and certainly do not cae if they made dollars to print those jackets. We do, afterall, live in a Capitalistic Republic.

Pardon my mistake. I thought the form of government was actually federalist.

Umm..Marco, I thought I had made it clear that it was not my intent to start a discussion on the merits of an ad for the National Guard. My point was the lack of information that is notmally included on tickets jackets. I did not mean to imply that the omission was the fault of the Guard; I am sure that the fault lies with someone at US. Whoever signed off on the "final edit" of the design goofed. Perhaps those people would have been more vigilant had US been paying for the printing?

I apologize if my response to him caused you discomfort. I just cannot let statements like those go unrefuted because to do so makes it seem like the statements are factual, which I believe is not the case.

Anyway, if my response to his statement bothered you, I apologize.

Hmm. Obviously, these new TJ's are not about US Airways. Let's think about who the National Guard is advertising/marketing to:

1) NOT the person that has checked in at home and printed their boarding pass. They proceed directly to security and might only get a ticket jacket if they check bags and need a place to store their baggage claim stubs.

2) NOT the person that checks in at the kiosk, again without bags. That person grabs their boarding pass and proceeds to security.

3) NOT airline employees 'cause why do we need a ticket jacket anyways? Does the boarding pass get cold?

4) So, that means the NG is marketing to the people that come up to the ticket counter that need "help" -- yes, I'm being simplistic here. I know, we all need help at some time (especially those of us that hang out on this message board!) Or people without home/office computers. People afraid of kiosks. I think it's very intersting to think about the "other" side of this equation.

Really, how many people use ticket jackets? When a very nice ticket agent has printed me my dummy boarding pass so I can get through security and put my boarding pass in a ticket jacket, I take it out and give the ticket jacket back -- I mean, I've got to take it out to go through security anyways. And if I don't give it back, I end up throwing it away in the gate area. The only time I've ever really USED a ticket jacket was when traveling with the WHOLE family -- it was a great place to round up the BP's and have 1 person keep track of them. But then the kids all want to hold their own anyway, so...

Also, if the NG paid for the printing and distribution of those ticket jackets I'm sure Joe Taxpayer doesn't want to be paying for US Airways phone numbers, star alliance logo, etc to be on those jackets. If it didn't have the USV ad, I would wonder if USA is the only airline using these? USVacations and the National Guard must have some sort of agreement -- would be my guess.
