I think that a lot of people, like you, still have the misconception that the LCCs hire only "old has beens". Most new hires have in excess of 7,000 hours with college degrees and usually large Part 121 jet experience.bigbusdrvr said:This is the rub.....
Hire has beens or down on thier luck pilots at the LCC's......
They only think of today, no concern for the future retirement days.
Oh thats right they all are gonna be stock millionares........
So were the pilots at peoples express, ask a copilot at southwest how his retirement looks......
The fact of the matter is that the LCCs are now hiring the best and the brightest aviators available. Probably a better crop of pilots than has been available at the legacies in years. Its funny how pilots view their fellow aviators. A pilot with no experience and few credintials that happened to luck out and get hired by a major airline at a young age will turn and ridicule another pilot that was highly experienced but had the misfortune of missing a major airline hiring cycle.
Certainly I think any pilot would opt for a DAL or NWA payscale with all the benefits rather than earn the "new industry standard", but those jobs are unavailable. Blame the evolution of the free market system or deregulation but please don't belittle your peers and blame them for the financial condition of your company.
