No more fundraisers at work!

Hey I agree with you 1000 percent! However if we start this here we will hijack the thread as the issues we raise is worthy of an entire thread on Water Cooler.

I'm pretty sure that Senior Management at US Airways doesn't see the Hypocrisy of prohibing fundraisers amongst the rank and file while premitting the non-stop pimping of an executives favorite charity. Arrogance is alive and well at 1111 Rio Salada Drive and sadly far to many addresses that make up Corporate America.

You're right. Sorry about the thread creep.

I suppose if the company comes out with their United Way Campaign again this year, we all have ammunition to stick it back in their faces. I have not been part of that campaign for at least 20 years (I have my own charities that I support,) and I have never had any negative feedback from management for not getting on board.

No one should contribute to the United Way. Why allow some of your charity dollars to be sucked up by a middle-man who does nothing but take a cut, live lavishly and then give what's left over to charities, some of which you may not even support?

Pick your own charities and send your money there. The United Way is the lazy way out, and the United Way bureaucrats are living large over people's laziness. And the charities themselves suffer for it.

I Agree !

Does this mean the COMPANY will no longer hand out United Way Payroll Deduction Forms?

And if they do, Who do we Contact?

The latest slap in the face from Tempe.........

There will be no more fundraisers at work is the latest directive to come out of the Sand Castle. There will be no more cookie sales, bake sales, hot dog sales and even 50/50 raffles for employees out of work and that have fallen on hard times. Apparently it is a violation of the Rules of Conduct as interpreted by corporate.
Does this mean that they will quit pushing the United Way payroll deductions down my throat each year??? Talk about a corrupt charity

I guess that it depends on where you are, and who you are dealing with. I can see this heading in the wrong direction if any type of a manager was involved. Over the years we have had the GS cookie sales offered by several agents at a time with no issues. Most would leave the order form up on the BB for a few days, and those that wanted to order did so without any pressure. To me the United Way payroll deduction has been more of a company pressure issue than any other fundraiser period.

Nancy Reagan said it best, "Just say No"

Now that was in reference to drugs. However I'd gently submit that United Way is like Crack when it comes to corporate charity

will this also put an and to those f/a's sitting in the A-west crew room who take a whole table to sell their junk jewelry? They spread that stuff all over the table like they are at a flea market. Better get your bedazzled ID chains now. 😀

LOL! We have an employee "marketplace" in early December, where employees can set up table and sell their wares (not made on company time, of course). It's right outside of my building. I always have to pencil this into my calendar, so I know not to step outside of my building (or at least go out the back or side door).

If they ever send us another "anonymous" employee survey, I am going to ask for the company to issue the same directive as US has issued. Thanks, US! 😀

Many that I work with are squeezed into their Stan Herman as it is. They can do without the cookies. 😉

On the contrary user Hadenough, fundraisers are still very much a part of US Airways. There is one planned for May 5th. Therefore the whole no more fund raising may in fact be a "slap in the face" from a particular stations management and not the axis of evil known as "the sandcastle"
