I travel from SJU to ORD quite a bit and this month I had to travel 1st as the flt went full in the back (luckly I had a pair of slacks in my bag). Any way I always paid $60 some thing when I traveled first now it went up almost $20 dls.

Total $88dls Round trip

Fuel prices my @ss, company wants to suck your pay check dry!

Quit yer whining.

Work it out.

At NW we now have to pay $50 annually just for the *ability* to non-rev. That's before you can even try to get on a plane.

 80 dollars oh my. I wonder what it would have cost if you bought a ticket outright

I would gladly trade places with you.

You should be glad you weren't travelling D3. Heres a little known fact, did you know that in some markets its actually cheaper to buy a ticket than it is to D3, have a look on sabre for the fares between JFK-LHR and then have a look at the D3 charges, last time I looked, the public could buy a R/T tix for around 238.00 and no waiting for your name to be called, whereas a D3 would pay around 325.00 and the worrying about making the flight is free, Go figure.

My family says, "Thanks, but no thanks" when I offer them a D3.

They know.

D3's are only worth it on International travel and domestic 3-class transcons.

You have to watch the loads constantly, they do change.

Agreed on International. How are they worth it on transcons?

.

Wrench,

I specifically stated 3-class transcons...which is apparently only the NYC-LAX. market.

If your D3's can fly Premium or Business class, it's a good deal. It's not likely on that particular route, but the earlier, the better.

However, one of my D3's had good luck with a D3 on a domestic itinerary vs. a last minute fare regarding a family emergency. I was shocked but even if she had flown coach the whole route on D3, it was cheaper than the last-minute fare.

It worked out because the loads were do-able.

It depends on where they are flying.

What is wrong with you people?

About the ONLY reason to work for an airline at this point are the passes.

That "$1900.00" seat would have gone out empty if it needed to be sold for "full" tariff.

I remember when NRSA passes at Eastern went from $7.00 to $9.00, you could hear the employees howl from coast to coast. And in those days, SELDOM were the planes full...you had some reason to think you wouldn't be standing by at the airport for days and days.

Jeez!

PS... Even at Allegheny, we had to buy a "Term Pass" on a yearly basis before we could fly "free".

I think you should all be glad that non-rev / buddy pass travel even still exists. Their are rumors flying around aviation circles that non-rev employee travel may soon be a thing of the past.

After all with the current fuel prices it is worth it to the airlines to fly with that seat open..

Just be glad, for the time being, you can still travel reduced rate/non-rev..
