LAX is too far west. The West Coast of South America is aligned with the east coast. CO has IAH which can do the feed from the west in all one direction. I believe Rio is 2 time zones ahead of New York.Just a thought.....what are the chances of UA using LAX as a hub for South America? Nearly all the South America flying is from the East and southeast part of the country. Looks like there would be a market for one airline to fly from the west coast.
