Now that AA says they are adding WIFI to MOST of the domestic fleet. Which is long past due, hopefully they won't take 2 years to do it. I know they mentioned sometime in 2012, but that is very vague. Anywho, my question is when are they going to put it onto some Eagle planes? I'm not talking about all of them, but some of them. I think the CRJ-700 is absolutely ready for it. Now that they do up to 3.5 hour flights, they need it. I really am not too sure about the rest of the fleet. CRJ, 100% needs it now.

My guess - guess - would be that since AMR is likely to spin Eagle off at some point in the next year - probably sooner - AMR is going to defer any "excessive" investment in Eagle beyond that which is required to make it (keep it) a viable concern for after its spinoff. The Eagle pilots union believes that - as is generally standard among many of the big legacy airlines - even post-spinoff AMR will likely retrain ownership of Eagle's fleet and lease the planes back to Eagle, but that being said, AMR will likely seek to wind down and dispose of the current regional fleet as quickly as it can since most of Eagle's fleet is woefully uneconomic at today's gas prices. However, all that being said, if what others have said is true, AMR actually doesn't pay for the install - Aircell does - and thus the only real "cost" to AMR of the install is the plane's downtime. If so, who knows - maybe they will invest in wifi for the regional fleet like Delta is doing.

Aircell started by paying for the install to get it's GoGo system on planes quickly, but I understand that that may have changed.
