A large majority of BOS/DL rampers, who were UPSET with local Management..BEFORE the "deal", And Very concerned about things like the DL.......SS-offset, sought out Info from the head NW/BOS IAM rep, who paid a visit to the DL ready room.

While answering any and all questions, he mentioned that NO DL supervisor had ANY power over a Union Official, while in the process of him carrying out his elected duties.
At THAT point, he was escorted OUT of the DL break room, by DL management.

Is there Something/anything that DL Management does NOT want the DL rampers to hear/know ??????????????

Talk about endearing your already Unhappy DL rampers, to DL management

BRING IT ON/LET THE GAMES BEGIN !!

Not sure why the NW folks are upset regarding the SS offset. Both pension plans are frozen as is.
The NW folks will live with the terms of the NW frozen pension terms as the DL folks will live with the terms of the DL frozen pension terms, SS offset and all.

As the representation issue is not resolved any union official who represents NW workers does NOT represent any DL employees. DL management would have the right to ask that person to leave the premises.
Now how wise that is may be another subject. It all would certainly depend on the details of the event. As of yet no one who was present has posted them.

The issue of representation is a big one for the DL and NW folks and should not be taken lightly.
The facts are what will be important going forward. Not "I heard" junk about issues that may or may not have happened.

I know for a fact (not "I heard") that the BOS union reps were going to invite any and all DL'ers to the local for the monthly meeting, and would like to keep that ongoing as way to get to know their (our) new coworkers. This is happening in several others cities, as well as open invites to come along when the various local members do charity work over the holidays-so they can see that the union is more than just "contract stuff" (my term).

Meanwhile, I would hope that any DL'ers would take advantage of that to get the information they need to make an educated decision. As for the BOS itself, maybe there's somewhere "neutral" that both parties can engage in a free exchange of ideas? Also, I would hoe that any DL employees know that they are free to come over to NW's facilities to talk.

And DL mgmt.? What happened to them advocating to congress the right of their employees to make their own decisions regarding organization? I understand the whole "it's DL property" thing, but that still smacks of insecurity on their part.

Leave it to BOS...................ay Kev ??

This all goes back to an ol' beef.

Something about..."Tea",............a Ship,.............and Boston Harbour

Wrench,

The facts are true. I happen to work with the two guys/reps who paid the visit. Also I was present when the DL supervisor came over to NW to explain why they had been asked to leave. Also according to the DL rampers we were told that a DL Supervisor/manager angrily removed union material from the ready room and angrily proclaimed to the DL ramp guys "You FU..ING guys better NOT vote in that FU..ING Union".

Or what?

Is this a preview of what we can expect under the supposed direct & open relationship DL has with it's workers? If so, I'd say we need representation now more than ever...

Were said employees on the clock?...........yes, you are being paid when on breaks !

If it were my company, I'd have kicked their ### out on the street too !

Maybe Delta Reps. need to barge into a union meeting sometime !

I could see this "Union Official" trying to throw his weight around and spouting "NO DL supervisor had ANY power over a Union Official !" if and only IF he were speaking with union members !

Last time I checked DL was non-union !

There are other ways to get your "Union Paraphernalia" than doing it on company time !

It's not your company.

No need to "barge in." I imagine most union leadership would welcome the chance to disabuse DL management's misconceptions on organized labor.

P.S. I'd just like to take this chance to thank you for once again posting such a thought provoking, substantive missive. You truly are an asset to this board and it's various discussions. 🙄

Southwind; thank you for once again removing all doubt. <_<

After over twenty years with the "Big D", yes this is what to expect. One joke regards the "open door policy"... The doors open you can leave,to be more precise. They care about you as long as you see things their way.

Interesting,

"Barge INTO a union meeting sometime"

"Barging Into" ANYTHING (uninvited), up in this neck of the woods(think I-95 corridor....BOS to PHL) would DEFINITELY cause you to experience "A BAD DAY"..health wise  ......and I doubt that it would be different in places like DTW/MSP/LAX !!

Southwind,......"you need to get out more"

Welcome to the REAL World !

Has anybody heard about the union leave being denied to any union organizer at NW. Here in LAX is the case, any truth to it.

This is absolutely true. NW has cancelled (or will not approve) any union leave requests that are for organizing. Some union leaves for other business are still being granted...
